"No bread tonight." That was a first for us at a Longhorn establishment however, the food was amazing. My girlfriend had the Ribeye with asparagus. My gentleman friend had Ribeye with loaded baked and potato soup. I had the salmon with brussel sprouts and upgraded to the strawberry pecan salad. The sauce the steak is cooked in is just heavenly and their salmon? I have tried salmon in several high end restaurants but nothing compares to Roadhouse salmon, absolutely THE most delightful experience one can have with a fish! My gal pal and I are devoted to trying to replicate those brussel sprouts which I don't even like with the exception of Longhorn's and that strawberry pecan salad is divine. However, our food was brought before I could get more than a few bites into it and there was no room for everything so I asked our waiter if he could box it for me? He came back to the table with a little box, picked up that huge plate (I'm thinking, "What is he doing...") and proceeds to dump that huge plate of salad over the little box that was half the size of the plate letting it spill all over the seat next to my girlfriend! His behavior throughout had made us feel like he was called in on his night off, we wondered. We were there the evening of January 22, 2024 from approximately 7:30-9, spent $155. for a nice time together and he didn't ruin it for us (we're too fun to let that happen) but, maybe management could remind their servers that people like to be treated the same way they would like to be treated if the tables...
Read moreWe go every year to celebrate our Anniversary and my birthday. I always get the Outlaw Ribeye with my sides already boxed to go since I know I can't eat them and the large steak. The steak was ordered Medium. It came very rare. Almost moving. I politely asked that it be returned and cooked to the requested medium. The Server brought it back in a TAKEOUT container. They did put extra mushroom and onions and gave an extra of Mac amd cheese. I had to then request a plate since I was still obviously dining in. The steak was still very very rare and cool. Obviously never went back on the grill. Now I can eat a rare steak, but prefer medium. After a few bites, I just could not look at the blood oozing out of the steak so I boxed it up and kept boxing all the excess stuff. Table gets very crowded with all the takeout. We actually ordered a to go for our neighbor. It was brought with our order at the beginning. So it sat there and took up space. Normally, our Server waits until we finish. Well, despite all this I wanted a Birthday dessert. It came and we managed to find space to eat most of it. I guess Longhorns doesn't acknowledge special occasions or Military Retirees with discount. We paid our 84.00 and left a generous tip for the Server. He must have been new. I think next time, we drive a bit further and go to the Rogers location. I will know to order it Medium Well the next time. I might get lucky and get an nice steak that has been cooked longer than cutting off the horns and flying it...

Let's start with the high notes: The service was fantastic. My server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They checked in the perfect amount, ensuring my drink was always full and I had everything I needed. This attentive service definitely elevated the overall experience.
Now, onto the main event: the chicken fried steak. While the portion size was generous and the breading had a nice crunch, the overall impression was greasy. The steak itself was slightly undercooked, and the gravy, while flavorful, added to the heaviness of the dish. The accompanying mashed potatoes were decent, but nothing to write home about.
Overall, Longhorn Steakhouse delivered a somewhat mixed experience. The friendly and efficient service definitely saved the day, but the greasy chicken fried steak left me feeling a bit let down. If you're looking for a solid steakhouse experience, Longhorn might do the trick, but I'd recommend asking for the steak cooked a bit more than you usually prefer and maybe consider a lighter option...
