EDIT: it is with some sadness that our family posts this, but it was such egregiously poor service/handling of the situation that the ownership/others should know. On February 6th we ordered two appetizers and two entrees. One of the appetizers came out over an hour and twenty minutes after we had arrived, just as we were packing up to leave. The restaurant would not refund the appetizer and so we were forced to pay for it. To top it off, it was an item that is only best served hot and immediately consumed, so we were forced to throw it away. This was quite disappointing -- I've never eaten a restaurant where they expect you to pay for an appetizer that took nearly 1.5 hours to prepare. We attempted to speak with the server about it and were quickly rebuffed. OTHER NOTES: Recent reviews make a note of poor customer service. While we were eating, a number of customers came in, waiting around for service, and left after 10 minutes. We had to ask to have our water glasses refilled. All this and the restaurant wasn't busy or understaffed, there were maybe three tables with customers at them. Lastly, as I went to the restroom to wash my hands, there was a worker sleeping in the noodle preparation room. I have to believe that this restaurant was either sold or the ownership no longer takes an active role in managing it. OLD REVIEW: Our family really enjoys Tsubaki and have been going since they opened. Having lived in Japan, it reminds us of the food and a little of the culture. The owner is usually on hand and it's a pleasure to speak Japanese with another person. The food is really good! Highly recommended.

I don’t like leaving reviews especially bad ones. I used to love ramen tsubaki, used to come here all the time with my family. But after my recent experience I don’t want to come back. I ordered the chicken miso ramen and the noodles came raw and the chicken was cold. As I ate the chicken I got a piece that felt like it was still frozen and raw. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of it but this is the picture of the noodles it’s self which were uncooked in the middle… I’m extremely disappointed in the food quality this time around. As me and my table ate or tried to eat of what we could we just kept experiencing more and more issues. Our server was kind yet didn’t know much about the menu, I feel as if he might be new and that’s okay but for the kitchen to come out the kitchen and answer a phone call right behind me and be obnoxiously loud when me and my table are trying to eat is very rude. And Im not exaggerating, the cook was literally a foot away from my chair being loud and obnoxious. I used to love the restaurant but this time I felt unwelcomed and the food was sub par, the noodles and chicken were raw, I would like to say I’d come back and give a second chance but unfortunately I will be going some place else and I’d advise others to do so as well

can’t believe I’m writing this about ramen tsubaki with how popular it seems to be. We ordered several things and they were all pretty mediocre especially the spring rolls, pot stickers and chicken and pork buns. I kept noticing this weird black and rust colored stuff in my lettuce which I’ve never experienced from a restaurant before. I just ate around it and let it be even though it was on several pieces. Then I was served my kara age chicken bowl, ordered one for my daughter as well. I ate a few pieces of chicken and started to stir it up when this cut piece of raw chicken showed up. We immediately told them and left. My husband said his ramen wasn’t even that good so he didn’t mind leaving. My stomach is currently having sharp pains and I feel so disgusting 🤮 I feel like the number one rule is don’t serve raw chicken especially when they cut it up and it was clearly visible. There were only three or four other tables so they weren’t that busy either. I remember going here once before a couple years ago and after eating my stomach was having sharp pains immediately 🤢

This place was phenomenal the first time I went when visiting friends in NC! Sadly my last visit the service was just plain bad. We waited a while to be greeted only to try to order appetizers which they were out of. In fact, they were out of almost all of their appetizers. Coming from someone who has worked in the industry for over 7 years, we should have been politely told that information when we were greeted. We weren't offered a high chair or sling for my infant son. Then we were shorted a water and had to ask for it more than once. Once our food came (brought by another server) our server checked on us once immediately and then we weren't checked on again the entire visit. I guess our server went home at some point because we never saw her again. Then well after we were finished eating and had stacked our dishes on the table the only server we saw at that point dropped off the check but cleared nothing from the table and then didn't come back for quite some time. We attempted to make eye contact with her so that we could get change and leave but she was wiping down tables and then began wiping down the walls before Finally coming to cash us out. It was definitely not a good experience. The other time I was here the food was very good and service was excellent and my friends who are locals say that shoddy service was a first for them so I will be back next time I'm in town and hope it is a...

I used to love it here, have been often since the day it opened years ago. The service has taken a nose-dive.

I had a bad experience in which I came for dinner and the waitress would not even acknowledge my presence. She was on the phone and would not even look in my direction. Every table was covered in plates and food except for the one closest to the bar, where she could not see me. I took a seat and assumed maybe she would come over eventually. After 10 minutes I poked my head in the back and eventually she came over. No apology for the wait or anything. I eventually ended up leaving as I was fed up with the experience. I want to note there were only 2 other customers that night, who had already gotten their food, so they weren't exactly swamped.

I went about 2 weeks ago, having given the place a break, hoping this was just a bad night for them.

My waitress barely seemed to speak english at all. I was not provided a utensil for my entree. I was nearly done with my entree before the appetizer came out, and I had to ask for an update about it. When the appetizer did come, I wasn't provided a bowl for the sauce. She never came by to re-fill our drinks. I don't recall her checking on me once.

I want to state as well I was one of 3 customers there that day, so it's not like they were busy.

The worst service I have ever received eating out. I won't...
