I am a long time customer of Sakura, and these Google reviews make me crazy.
One reviewer claims that they were cheated on their bill based on a general feeling their bill "wouldn't be bad." Of course, they didn't bother to get a menu and audit the bill. Instead Sakura gets a nasty review due to their customers' inability to do addition in their head.
Another reviewer complains that Sakura has "Mexicans" making their sushi. It's a special breed of racists who can't even tell Hawaiians and Mexicans apart while slagging them off.
Finally, the reviewer who really likes Harris Teeter sushi sums things up nicely. Not to be rude, but if you like the refrigerated california roll from your local grocery store, that doesn't guarantee that you will like actual sushi when you are fortunate enough to try it.
MY TAKE: Sakura is my second favorite restaurant in Fayetteville, and I wouldn't even classify myself as a sushi lover. They have brilliant food (on par with sushi I've eaten in NYC for 3x the price), very friendly and generous staff, and possibly the best atmosphere of any restaurant I know of. Also, don't let others scare you away from bringing your kids. I've taken my four nieces and nephew, all under the age of 6, by myself, and the...
Read moreAs a long time Fayetteville Resident. I believe this is probably the best it gets when it comes to sushi. I would go here over the others, though not great.
I used to come here when it was owned by another owner, in which the sushi was delicious. Thick cuts, fresh sushi, and good hot foods like hibachi. I brought my mom this past week for her birthday, and ordered the Love Boat. Unfortunately, this is the type of place that tries to give you fillers. Crab stick nigiri, California Roll, and Dragon roll, with thin slices of Sushi. nothing spectacular. Granted they did have thick slices of salmon and tuna, but they skimped on the yellowtail and I think the mackerel. The sushi was dry throughout. Not a fan, but then again, not a lot to expect from Fayetteville, so if I needed to pick Sushi, I would come here. There are new owners, so hopefully they improve. I would eat here again if a client...
Read moreService was fantastic. All of the staff members were very sweet, attentive and funny. Absolutely loved them. The food was really good, but some suggestions or things that I think would be better are for the ginger salad dressing, it should be a bit more thin as it was too viscous so there was a lack of flavor to it. Miso soup was really good. The dragon roll was really good too but you can taste the torch taste on it. I’d recommend dressing it over with eel sauce to generously hide that taste. The spicy crab roll was personally not my favorite. The danis roll was pretty good too but idk if I’d get it again, but it wasn’t bad. Overall I’d come back again to try other menu items! The oyakodon my boyfriend got was huge so be mindful of ordering in case you don’t finish. Rice could be soggy after when you try to...
