Father's day 2013. June 16th. Let me start by stating that this was my second trip to sammios within the past year. I was pleased with my first trip so decided to come back. My first trip I used a groupon, as I did on this occasion. There are several contrasts between trips. My first trip I had my groupon I went with a friend we were seated we ordered the food was great and so was the service. I presented the groupon in the end. There was no problem and we tipped properly.
My father mentioned that he wanted pizza for father's day, and instead of the normal pizza places, ie pizza hut, dominos, pizza inn, I mentioned to him sammios based on the really great trip from before. He decided he would try it, so I went ahead and got a groupon. Sunday morning after church we made the trip to the Raeford rd sammios. When we arrived there were litterally no other cars in the parking lot, and the gentleman that sat us mentioned we were the first customers of the day. I mentioned to the waitress I had a groupon. She said okay, just to let you know we add in an 18% gratuity to all groupons. I stared at her and slowly said okay. I didn't have that mentioned on my previous visit.
My parents and I began reviewing the menu, but we all pretty much knew what we wanted, since we had already seen the menu. The waitress came and told us of a chicken special, but they only had eight servings. A few minutes later she comes back and told us that they were out of the pork chop. At this point in time other customers had arrived, but we were the only ones she had mentioned the pork chops. I ordered the eggplant parmesan, my dad a meat pizza, my mom a chef salad. My father and I got a tossed salad.
I am a vegetarian. I ordered the eggplant parmesan previously and it was delicious. When it arrived today, the spaghetti had meat sauce. I mention this to the waitress, and she questioned me about it, but decided she believed me, and had ME scrape the spaghetti onto another plate, so that I could get a fresh order. My family thought this was backwards, and it was. I continued to dig into the eggplant when I realized there was meat sauce mixed in.
My mom mentioned it to the waitress. She offered to replace, but I obviously declined. The manager never came to the table, but he/she took off for the entree (eggplant), but charged me for the redone spaghetti. I bit my tongue, and said okay. Asked for dessert togo to complete the groupon value. I was extremely disappointed for the service and lack of respect. Keep in mind this was my experience, and it could be better for others. We were the first customers of the day, but we still did not have good service. Even though the waitress said she would make it worth our while, because of the 18%...
Read moreAllow me to start by saying that my wife and I have dined here before with no real issue. The food is not bad, but as far as Italian places go, it is middle of the pack at best. We used to like it because of its location, near downtown, but outside the traffic bubble. That been said, yesterday (Oct, 2) our church Pastor asked us to joined them for dinner after service. It was her birthday and she wanted some of us to celebrate with her. Her daughter had received the small room on back, for about 20 people. When word got out, about 25 - 30 showed up. Mostly in family groups, so you are still talking about 6 - 10 tickets at best. We arrived at 1:30 pm. and sat in the room, joking and talking to our Pastor. Then we noticed that we had been there for almost 30 mins and no one had drinks... Well, as one of us was getting ready to ask what was the issue, the waitress showed up and took our drink order. Drinks came out promptly, and shortly after that, refills. But we had been there for almost an hour and no one had been given the opportunity to place and order yet. After inquiring about the delay, the waitresses took our orders. Some people ordered appetizers, others didn't... By the time the appetizers showed up, it was 3pm. Food didn't show until 30 mins later. Some of our church members had other commitments that afternoon. So they decided to go and ask for their plates to go, because they couldn't stay to eat. The waitress was extraordinarily hostile to the idea. She didn't seem to understand that the party was asking to take the plates to go, not to cancel the order. To our amazement, a lady that identified herself as an owner (I say that because I thought the owner was a gentleman named James whom I've met before) approached the group with even a worse attitude than the waitress. She was as tone deaf as her employee, not listening to the request and stating that the Group was way larger than what was stated in the reservation and that we had (purposely) over run her staff. At this point my wife told her, "Ma'am you should be trying to de-escalate this and make the customer happy) By the time we left it was pass 5 pm. So what was supposed to be a small gathering for about 2 hours, took almost 5 hours. My meal, which I have had before on other occasions, came to me cold with scanty fries.
The only reason I give them two stars is because I saw one of the waitresses really trying to make things right. We understand that the group turned out to be a bit larger than anticipated, but we were patient and understanding. The staff on the other hand, was flustered from the beginning, even before the bulk of the group showed up. I do not think I will be returning... This time I really...
Read moreSo I did curbside pickup tonight.I got the spaghetti combo which comes with one meat ball, pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, mushrooms, onion I believe is on there but anyways .I asked for extra sauce which was just meat sauce but I wanted all the veggies also that comes with spaghetti combo. The price is like $14.00 something then I ot a side salad and extra sauce total was $21.00 dollars. So all I wanted was some extra parmesean packets of cheese for this big plate of spaghetti I only get 2 packs .Soni call back inside whole sitting outside and explain $$$$$ is no issue if I have to pay for extra packets of parmesean fine .So the manager just gives them to me.I then explained with the extra sauce thought it would have the veggies and stuff in.it like the spaghetti combo .Ok so basically the manager wanted to take my extra sauce that I had already in car take it back to the kitchen to add the veggies noooooooo especially during a pandemic like thats nasty. I said no bring me a new one. So waiting patiently he brings the sauce and veggies back out .I had to pay like $7.00 and some change for the extra toppings the veggies that was in the spaghetti combo. So basically I almost paid $30.00 for one plate and some veggies and sauce lol like I said $$ is not the issue .When you call a establishment things definitely need to be explained just like the stress the packs of parmesean and its only a certain amount you can get, then stress the fact to your employees if they want extra sauce with this particular spaghetti combo .Explain to your customer how it want have the extra veggies and meatball and stuff in there. Like it would be better on the employees and the customer and all this stuff .Like these restaurants need to get it together seriously and don't ever try to take stuff from someone out of there car during a pandemic to put take back into the kitchen thats a big one .Especially guess what I was driving what I call my covid car which I do work with those type patients. Please.....Will I ever go back maybe in the future but next time please don't stress on the...
