A friend recommend that I try this spot out and I luckily have had a chance to try them at The Taste NW last year, though I only got a lychee lemonade. My boyfriend and I just had a good meal and wanted to get dessert nearby so I asked if he wanted to try out Snowy Village for some bingsoo. I appreciate the different options for bingsoos as usually there are only a few at many locations. Additionally, they have different sizes so if you do end up having to tackle it solo or with one other person then you have the option of doing so.
They have a water station which I think is nice so you can refresh yourself or have something to sip while waiting for your order. They have lots of tables and chairs for you either sit alone at or with others. The space seems to go for a minimalistic vibe with chill music playing. The service was decent, it seemed like there was only one female employee working so she was in charge of dealing with everything. She greeted us, asked us how our day was and to have a nice day. It took some time to receive our order, even though we were the only ones but it seemed like she has a good grove for when there are more multiple orders as she was able to make four within a good amount of time for two separate parties.
We got the piggy bar and I didn't know it also came with sliced strawberries. It was a nice touch but definitely wished there was a bit more. I definitely want to come back to try out their drinks and taiyakis, as well as other bingsoo flavors. Glad to have them at Federal Way as we definitely needed more...
Read moreFlavors here are pretty good and at a good level of sweetness. Our food took longer than expected to come out even though the place was basically empty.
The shaved ice itself though is presented in a way that is completely impractical to eat. See photos for the before and after. It's impossible to eat it without making a mess. It's stacked so high that any attempt at scooping the dessert will topple the toppings. We had to grab multiple plastic water cups to move some of the shaved ice to make this thing eatable.
When you finally can figure out how to eat it, the strawberry oreo shaved iced is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the strawberries are layered on top of the shaved ice in such a way that you can't really get a scoop of everything without a lot of it ending up on the tray. They really should consider switching to chunks. Or a wider bowl.
The sesame flavor was also pretty good. Though the sesame dust they used is really quite dry. Almost sawdust like consistency which also detracted from...
Read moreThe korean ice cream itself is ok. Not the best I've had... our strawberry cheesecake was half graham cracker crumbs. I just don't like eating ice cream while listening to f word laden music. It was a bit unclear how the menu worked... its understandable, as they looked like they opened recently and theyre still figuring it out... When I asked how you order, it was difficult to hear the explanation over the speaker blasting at the counter. There was nobody else in the store.... was the music for me? Are they selling loud curse music? Turn down the volume knob for a minute and take a minute to explain how to spend money at your store. I sincerely hope they stick around over the summer because I like korean ice cream and cafe noir went out of business. But my advice would be to care more about customer experience (from intuitive menu to family atmosphere). Fill the place with customers, not just blaring music. Might be back again. Would love to change this review to a...
