I only have great things to tell about this place, I have use it for 15 years already since they open on day one, many people has come and gone on the staff but because I use it regularly, they know me pretty well and always are on the look to help.
The first great person on their staff was Rick and now are Nate and kaley.
I have spent at least 30 grands here and can say I have almost every tool they sell. The quality has improved a lot over the year. They have always provided lifetime warranty and I still have tools from the beginning where they didn't put any brand on it and now they are not fulfilling the warranty on them because now they want the tool to say Pittsburgh on them.
If you are looking to use these tools for regular or heavy duty, I recommend buying the protection plan for the tool for at least 1 year as the regular warranty is for only 90 days. They are good tools, but I have had bad luck sometimes when it is a tool that I will use for a heavy duty and pretty often use. If you compare the price of the tool plus the warranty you will find that is still a lot cheaper than a known brand and if it it's a battery tool when it break you can get a newer one and keep the baterry and charger of the old one that cost more than the price of the warranty.
I am updating this review about 8 years later. Sadly, Rick nate and Kaley are not there any longer. Their employees go and come, they turn into supervisor or even move to the new stores opening and managers like Rick did when he came from Kent to federal way.
I have to say that I have upgraded all my tools to hercules and icon, most bought new but when an old breaks, they gave me the credit of price of the old one and I pay the difference for the newer one. Hercules is amazing and is competing with the big brands, I fix my semi with them, and after about 4 years of having hercules, just 1 has broken after all those years with heavy use. I can't say much good about icon as Pittsburgh and Quinn have lifetime warranty , I just have them all for collection, lol, but I can definitely see the difference between the 3 brands and icon is the best by far, the grip and the rigidness and palpable, but if any of them break and can get a new one easily enough. On tings like tap and dye, icon is definitely better, and the Pittsburgh ones break easily even though you can get new ones, but it is frustrating trying to get the broken part put off the hole.
I have the titanium mig welder, and as I am still a newly welder as I don't do much, it is way better than the flux Chicago electric I still have, or the stick Chicago electric.
I finally sold the Pittsburgh car Jack I had for about 14 years. That thing never broke, and I still got $50 for it. Now i got 2 Pittsburgh aluminum, I did buy a Daytona first, but it leaked within 25 days of purchasing, then i realized that for the same price I could have the 3 ton and 1.5 tons Pittsburgh, so i got those 2.
I still have as well all the lynx tools, I had them for almost a decade, but I am getting all the atlas as well, lynxx were 40 volts and this altlas 80 volts and they are definitely stronger, but the lynxx are...
Read moreI absolutely love this place. Granted, their tool aren't Huskvana, but they do the job at, usually and in my case, 1/2 to 1/4 the price. Yes, I said 1/4 of the high priced tools you find even in big box stores. They don't have everything like a big box store would, but what they have is great deals on what they do have. Don't get me wrong, it's a big store, just not supermarket sized. I just bought a rotary tool. Mid $20's. I was offered I think it was a 3 year warranty for $8. I thought that was rather stiff until I was told that the policy of whatever it was added the 90 days you get free with just purchasing the tool, AND you can bring whatever tool you bought and exchange it for new. No questions asked. They take it even if parts are missing. You also may purchase the warranty up to 30 days after buying the tool. With all that, to me, is well worth the $8 extra. I can't say if the tools will stand up to super heavy use, however, I have tools from there that over 10 years old and they still get their jobs done. Only thing I am disappointed about is that I didn't see a post hole digger at that particular store. Bummer, guess I have to just go look at other stores...lol Gimme tools, I need more...
Read moreI don't know how it was back then it what but I've recently went in to this store because I had problem that the Renton store didn't and wouldn't resolve with me. I bought a tool using a gift card that wasn't enough so I use cash to pay the rest, unfortunately the tool didn't work so I went to refund it at the Renton location and they refund it all back to me as a gift card so I said I just want the portion that I paid in cash back to me as cash and the manager said no she couldn't do it and would not refund my cash portion back to me. So I ended up going to the Federalway location and one of the managers there told me because of closing time to bring the receipt and theyll try to help but not guarantee everything. I went there the next day not knowing the manager there now wasn't the one I've talk to and explain real quick on over all what has happened and she got my cash back to me in 2mins, i was happy and I've notice that so the employess there was very helpful and nice as well thank you Federalway...
