I sent the below email to Tasty's on 8/7. STILL no response. Tasty's has lost a local customer.
Dear Tasty’s,
I contacted you on Monday 7/27 through your online form. After submitting my feedback, I received the attached confirmation [not attached to this review] but never actually received a confirmation email from you. So I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you never received my email.
I have really tried to support local businesses throughout this challenging time, but I’m done with Tasty’s. Every time I order online, it takes faaaar longer to receive my order than the stated time after placing my order. On Monday the 27th, I placed an order. At the end of the order, the confirmation said my order would be ready at 1:15. By 1:30, when my order still wasn’t ready, I asked the girl behind the counter about the status of my order. Another girl immediately went to check. She came back with my order and said there was a mix up with the name. I don’t see how this is possible since I typed in my name myself while placing the order, but if orders are waiting around, this would explain why most of my previous orders were already cold by the time I received them. (This order, at least, was still hot.)
The girl who handed over my order apologized immediately, and she apologized again after I explained that I was waiting during my lunch break. (I greatly appreciate her service and her apology.) The girl behind the counter, who I initially informed that I was there to pick up my order and who watched me the entire time I was waiting since I was waiting at the counter just next to the front door, in her direct line of sight, seemed entirely unconcerned about any of it.
I should clarify that all of my orders have been at the Fernandina location.
As I mentioned at the beginning of my message, I submitted this feedback well over a week ago without any response. I’m not looking for anything from Tasty’s, but you could at least acknowledge my message. Because you are a local business, and I truly want to support local businesses, I’m contacting you directly rather than leaving a public review on Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, or another forum. I’d like to hear back from you that you are addressing the (repeated) problems and are doing your best to provide the kind of quality service that we expect from the local businesses that our community is desperately trying to support as we face our own struggles through this challenging time.
Thank you for...
Read moreYou know a place is good when you go back twice in one day. Tasty's is not just tasty the service is awesome and the decor/atmosphere is just awesome.
We were camping at nearby Fort Clinch when we realized the friend our daughter brought to camp with us doesn't eat hot dogs (side note: what kid doesn't eat hot dogs when camping but I digress). So my husband hit the road to find a chicken sandwich. Tasty's is close by and looked like the best spot.
We grabbed 3 burgers and 1 chicken sandwich to go. We also grabbed a small sample of the tasty sauce. Now I'm not a condiment person but some in the group said the sauce was awesome and others weren't fans. So I recommend on the side to add it if you like it. My burger was delicious.
Later that night after we toured the fort we decided it was a milkshake kind of night and headed back to Tasty's (like smores wasn't enough at the campside?? lol again I digress). We were not disappointed!! We ordered a vanilla milkshake, oreo milkshake, chocolate milkshake, tot-chos, crabby tots and parmesan tots (I know what you are thinking...this looks like a munchies kind of visit...we were with our kids. But if you are wondering...this is the best munchies menu you could ask for). :)
The milkshakes were awesome...not too thick but they did give each one a spoon and a large straw. The crabby tots...oh the crabby tots, cheese, chili and jalepeno covered tots yum double yum. The parmesan ones (parmesan cheese, italian seasoning, and roasted garlic aioli) were also really great! I liked the crabby tots (tossed with Old Bay and served with tartar sauce) but after trying the other two they came in 3rd place for sure.
It was a little chilly when we visited so we sat inside but there is a great outside area with picnic tables to people watch and that will be my choice next time.
Great place that I will make sure to visit next time I am in the area. I wish there was one in Jax Beach it is the perfect place for a tasty's (and...
Read moreExcellent local burger/sandwich diner (in a repurposed former gas station) within easy and enjoyable walking distance of Fernandina's/Amelia Island's historical downtown/bed-and-breakfast district. They offer classic burger/fries options (with a generous variety of fresh toppings and condiments; there's even malt vinegar). There are also numerous modern, creative, and tasty takes on burger/shake joint standards (the parmesan fries alone are worth a visit, and are perfect for 2-4 people to share). Food is great and relatively inexpensive; staff is friendly and on the ball.
The vegetarian sandwiches are so good here, anyone should seriously consider ordering one for fresh deliciousness alone. I tried the black bean burger last time, and now it's tied for my all-time favorite sandwich. (In my "head canon," the Cuban independence history related to Fernandina--worth looking up--makes Tasty's black bean burger a low-key gem of "historic coast" tourism. Tasty's should please consider naming this burger "The Fernandina Plan" or "El Plan de Fernandina.") There's also a beet burger that involves tzatziki, as well as several other non-meat options that, based on the delicious black bean burger, would without doubt be worth trying.
In terms of space, there's plenty of seating indoors at tables and in booths. There are also covered picnic tables out front where there the fuel tanks would have been. The glass exterior, nice local art and views, and abundant natural light add to the cheerful atmosphere; and while everything is casual, it's a comfortable setting to visit with friends/family...
