Visited on a Friday after my flight landed with friends because Mexican is always a good idea but in this case it unfortunately wasn't. They're following social distancing guidelines by having every other table blocked off. They even provide a sandwich bag to store your mask while you eat which was the first I've seen that and appreciated it. The chips and salsa brought to the table was subpar. Chips weren't warm and lacked salt. The salsa was decent. My friend and I both ordered the shrimp tacos but I subbed my salad for beans. Other friend ordered a chicken and a beef street taco, which she said were cool with good flavor. The shrimp tacos on the other hand, no bueno. I'll start with the pros, they do give you quite a bit of food and the you get three tacos stuffed with fillings, but that's where it ends. The shrimp looked boiled and lacked seasoning. The only thing that saved it was the sriracha sauce and guacamole that was in the taco. The drinks were good. I ordered the Mexican Lollipop Margarita which was tasty, at first but as I got to the bottom of the drink it started tasting of that chili salt they use which I'm not a fan of. It's also important to note that we got there about an hour before closing so I'm not sure if that contributed to our food. Our server, Alysia, was in training, but she was helpful, patient, and sweet.

Unique, special place where nothing is exactly as it seems. Even the simplest dishes have a subtle spices and tantalizing flavors. All the chairs are hand painted and unique. It feels like fiesta time. It's a hole-in-the-wall past the motel check-in. And it's hard to find better Mexican food. It's hard to say whether the chile colorado or the chile verde is better. Or whether ordering the chile relleno with a taco is the right choice. (Yes, it was so good we ate there on the way out and on the way back too. I will drive hours out of my way to eat here now.) The chile colorado and verde both are out of this world - the sauces are rich and deep and complex. I don't know of another restaurant that serves anything even close to these dishes. The relleno and taco are excellent as well - a step or two above average. I am looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu. But I will have a hard time not having either chile colorado or chile verde. (apologies to previous readers of my review - it was for the Turquoise Room in Winslow.)

1) A piece of hair was found in one of the dishes we ordered. 2) I did not like the fish tacos at all, the fish was bland and not seasoned well, and the rest of the toppings/condiments did not make the tacos much better. Additionally, the way my order was packed to-go (we ordered takeout) essentially destroyed the tacos and made them very difficult to eat, as all the tortillas got mashed together and were difficult to pick up. 3) They accidentally packed someone else’s half-eaten quesadilla leftovers into our to-go order. While I normally would be fine with free food, this seemed pretty unsanitary… 4) For a relatively empty restaurant, the service was slow. My friend went to Wal-Mart and back while we waited ~25 minutes for our food. 5) They charge $4 extra for additional chips and salsa. Not really a negative since it didn’t affect us, but just something that surprised me since I’ve never really seen that policy in Texas.

Absolutely horrible food! If I could give them 0 star I would!!!. The food was Cold. We went on a Mini vacation and decided to stop there out of ALL the other restaurants around there. The guy at the front who gave us the table was rude..which its fine maybe he had a long day.. I can understand that. At this point I’m considering ordering a big margarita because I was feeling ok, I mean that guy was not going to be our server anyways. Well, The table we sat at was greasy and dusty.. the menu and my arms were sticking to it. I told the kids not to touch anything. They served chips and salsa Or I should say crumbs/leftover chips!!! Anyways, we order food, the food was cold probably they didn’t put enough time in the microwave-disgusting!)and not to mention the weird smell! (Old food). No one wanted to say anything but my plate specifically was un-eatable. (You can imagine how preheated chicken in the microwave smells and TASTES ). I had told the waiitress who was really nice to exchange for something else. At this time I just wasn’t feeling like eating anything but I order 3 tacos so she wouldn’t feel bad because i was the only only without a meal. I told her just 3 single tacos, Guess what, she came with this big plate( a combination of 3 tacos with rice and beans) knowing that I only order 3 single tacos. Well, they did this because the combination($15.00) plate was more pricey than just the tacos. Whatever, I let it pass i just didn’t wanted to deal with them. I think i counted the pieces of meat in each taco. A tiny bit of meat! It would’ve been fine, if they were tasty and good. But that was no fresh fresh carne Assad a tacos at all. I don’t mind paying, I just want to eat good food and have a good time. That’s why I’m paying for it . Otherwise I would just eat at home. I this point I just wanted to get out of there. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES A BAD EXPERIENCE AND DON’T GO EAT THERE. IF YOU CAN AFFORD PAYING FOR A MEAL THERE THEN YOU CAN AFFORD GOING ANYWHERE ELSE AND HAVE GOOD FOOD. I left a tip just because the waitress was nice and I don’t think it was her foult but the cooks and the owners foult for serving that kind of food. One day someone will get sick after eating there. I don’t know how they have 4 & 5 stars. Maybe because of the margaritas..but I ended up not ordering one even though i was considering getting one. ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS SERVE FRESH FOOD. What is so hard about It!! I know when food is old, microwaved, and tables are sticky. Please change that...

Man, I was SO disappointed with this meal. Based on the reviews I was expecting authentic TexMex food but what we got was bland, under seasoned, poor quality food. I was psyched for the salsa because it’s so hyped in all the other reviews but was absolutely baffled by what we got…it was almost like marinara sauce with raw onions and cilantro chopped up in it? Even if that’s a regional thing unique to Arizona, it was…not good. The chips were stale. I got the carne asada taco and the carnitas taco and both meats were dry, stringy, and tough. The only saving grace was the tortilla (authentic and tasty) and the lime slice (which gave some flavor). My husband got the Fiesta Burrito with chicken and the whole thing was just soggy and bland. No flavor to anything, no heat, no salt, no depth, nothing. This man has relatively low standards thanks to the Army and he gave up halfway through. The chicken tasted like it had been boiled in plain water and then stuffed into the burrito with half the water. The chile relleno was the only thing that had a bit of flavor by virtue of the pepper itself, but the batter was so soggy and flavorless it felt like eating a diaper. Totally put off. Perhaps the most disappointing was the Cheese Crispy or whatever it was called, the tortilla with cheese on it. Several reviews on here praised the “perfect balance between the cheese and the green chili sauce” or whatever but there was nothing more than a deep fried greasy tortilla topped with a melted shredded cheese medley in my box. I’m actually embarrassed that I paid $10 for that, I feel like such a fool. Ultimately I’m totally baffled by all these 5 star reviews; either these customers are heavily influenced by the service (which we didn’t have because I got takeout) or none of them have ever eaten authentic decent TexMex food, because this was just an embarrassment and I’m annoyed I spent so much money here; I would’ve been more satisfied going to Taco Bell, honestly. I hate saying that because this is a small business and I get that, but like…this food is not...

Disappointing experience, feeling deceived by the 4+ star reviews....

It started right after we were seated. First off, of the goods... the waitress was great. The atmosphere was mildly loud but fine, nothing to brag about or be concerned with. That's about the end of the goods for me though. Chips and salsa and free as expected if you purchase a meal. But the salsa is maybe 4oz. If you run out, it's $4 to get more. We ran out half way through the chips. I'm from the east coast and I've never heard of anything like that. Then the margaritas everyone talks about in reviews are $12 each. Back home we see them about half that and yes they're the same size back home too. My girlfriend got a soda. Soda's are $4 here... I'm all for companies making a profit but highway robbery is a bit much. At this point that's how it felt. But it was late and we had no where else to reasonably go. Next up food cost is a bit higher than anticipated (again compared to the east coast). But food is food and that part wasn't to terrible really. Just added salt to the wound to say.

So my food was pretty bland. Nothing to complain over but nothing to brag about either. I can't say if it was lack of taste or freshness or what but it wasn't that great. Now my girlfriend's was apparently great. She enjoyed it. So that was good.

To finish things off though on the highway robbery thoughts... She thought her entree came with sour cream. Well it didn't and guess what... that to was an extra charge. Just a small dipping cup of sour cream was another $1. A dollar here and there isn't a big deal but it's like really? Nickle and diming folks isn't good service to me. If this was a big tourist town I'd say it comes with the territory. Regardless I wanted to share my experience and say I was disappointed, wouldn't recommend and highly doubt I'll ever go back....
