Da Massimo Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Florence

I was randomly searching for pizza in the area that wasn’t from a chain and I luckily came across this spot. Unfortunately, they don’t have pizza (or carry out to my knowledge) but when the food, atmosphere and service is this good, who cares?? Where do I start? We went there on a Friday night at around 7pm. The place is so inconspicuous that we would’ve passed it had it not been for the Christmas lights out front. We went in to the definition of a quaint but cozy restaurant and were immediately greeted by both waiters (yes there were only two but they were excellent) one of whom told us it would be a 10 minute wait. We waited in the car for 10 minutes then went back and were seated immediately. We were met with glasses of water and the best bread and seasoned olive oil pairing I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously, that may have been the best bite of the night and that’s saying a lot. We followed up with the Caesar salad and it was perfection. I ordered the vodka penne and my fiancé got the stuffed rigatoni. Both were excellent. The specials sounded amazing too but I wanted to try something I’ve had before before diving head first. But no worries because we will be back. The atmosphere allowed for us to have intimate conversations and really bask in all they had to offer. We ate at this restaurant several years ago. It was some of the best Italian food we had ever eaten. We were recently back in the area and wanted to go back here to eat again. What a disappoint!. The restaurant must have sold since we were last there. I asked for butter for my bread and they refused to bring me any butter. I ordered a salad and the lettuce was brown. They kept telling me it was the balsamic vinegar. I owned a restaurant. I know whether lettuce is good or not. The entree selections were horrible. All of the entrees on the menu were different types of Ravioli. The special was bass. There was no veal, no chicken, and no special italian entrees. When our Ravioli came, Chef Boyardee is better. We paid our bill and left. We went to an awesome Italian restaurant on the other side of town. The restaurant was packed and the food was out of this world. There were 6 people in the restaurant that we left. We will never eat at this restaurant again. It's glory...

Me and my husband came here on our first date night in forever this past weekend and i cannot stop talking about how amazing this place was!!! The service was wonderful. The server was attentive and extremely polite and easy to talk to. The restaurant was very intimate! First thing we got were our drinks then came the bread which was fantastic! The caprese salad was best i ever had the mozzarella was TO DIE FOR!!! I got the spaghetti and meatballs while my husband got the ravioli (which everyone has had before right?) THE BEST WEVE EVER HAD. You truly have not had it til you’ve had it from here! I am ruined from anything else! We ended the night with the cannolis and could not have been happier. The meal was very fair pricing for the quality food and service we got. The chef spoke with every table making sure everyone was happy. I can’t say enough good things about our experience.
