I am absolutely and completely in love with Lovejoy! It's the most adorable and beautiful teashop you'll ever see. The wood work is incredible and their decor is aestheticlly pleasing. They have multiple selections of tea and you can order more than one! The Salmon bisque soup is to die for, right after I ate it I was looking up recipes to make my own! There is plenty of space for eating, or even sitting next to a warm fireplace. And don't forget about all the glass things you can buy! They have wonderful kitchen accessories that you can buy and add to your home, from teapots to sugar jars! You will definitely be more than Satisfied with Lovejoy's Restaurant & Tea Room.
Edit: All of the above is true, but last summer I went with my cousin and one lady wasn't very welcoming towards us. The lady at the front desk made us feel like we didn't belong there, almost like we couldn't afford it. We had to sit outside which didn't bother us but the fact that they forgot about us did. Finally a nice young man on the waiting staff came and took our order. He apologized and got our tea, so we brushed it off because they seemed pretty busy. But they forgot about us again when we were ready for the check, and then they couldn't find our check. Which I get it, stuff like this happens all the time. But the lady who was trying to help us pay kept snapping at our waiter, and proceeded to snap at my cousin when she was trying to calculate a tip. My cousin got her phone out to use her calculator, and the lady says "it's correct, trust me" and my cousin said "I know, I'm calculating a tip" and as soon as my cousin said that she tried to be all buddy buddy with us. Everyone else was very welcoming and...
Read moreMy daughter had found this place on Google maps before we even got to Florence for vacation and wanted to go here. So on Wednesday, we went in for lunch. She got their Salmon Cake and rice lunch, which came with Tomato soup, which she really loved. I got the Roast Beef finger sandwich along with a Scone that had fruit preserve and clotted cream (which my daughter got the scone, as well) and they were scrumptious! We also got Earl Grey tea, Sour Cherry tea and then Rose Petal tea. The Rose Petal tea was soooo good, that we ended up buying a few grams (or ounces) of the loose tea and a diffuser. Then, on our way out of town on Thursday, we went back to buy a tea pot, a couple of cups that has their logo, and my daughter got the Mango Black tea leaves to take home with us, which she loves both iced and hot. I am not one to leave reviews often, but when a place truly deserves it, I do. Lovejoy's is a phenomenal place to go and have tea, scones and lunch! Plus, their little shop offers a lot of awesome items and 2 or 3 dozen of different loose teas you can choose from! Also, you don't have to dress fancy to go for high tea, though I had wished we had packed dress clothes to wear there lol Maybe that is just because of how I was raised (to dress nice to fancy places) and also the historical fiction and non-fiction books I have read lol Thank you to the wonderful waitress there, Chrystalina (such a beautiful name, btw!). She is phenomenal at what she does there, as well as at another place she helped us at! Thank you for such a great...
Read moreWe went for "high tea" for fun. We dressed up. It aas supposed to be a fancy excursion. While the decor is quaint and the affair did eventually reach a pleasant conclusion, it was -not- without major speedbumps.
One of the servers was prompt, attentive, and polite. She took our orders and brought us our first course of the high tea without any issues.
Then a new server arrived.... and she was huffy, loud, and obnoxious. Our tea... was nowhere to be seen... we'd finished our first course..... sandwiches came.. with our one vegetarian guest's sandwiches missing. The obnoxious server stars yelling at us about the order being messed up... it took 15 minutes for her to figure out what she was wrong because she wasn't listening to us. She clearly didn't understand what high tea is or how it works on their own menu. Our tea still didn't arrive.
It took another 15 for her to figure out we needed our tea... and then kept coming to our table and asking us if we wanted to pay, or order things that we'd already ordered as part of the high tea ..
The reason I've given 3 stars and not 2 is because the host apologized to us and took an order off our ticket as restitution. My message to the host here if you read this is :
Make sure the staff is trained for when things go wrong. No yelling. No visible frustration. No approaching the guests unless absolutely necessary. Don't ask guests to pay until they signal they...
