Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Florida

This is not something I usually do as I have worked in the restaurant business for 23 years. Today my son and I came for lunch and we were greeted very promptly by a nice man(may have been the manager) we were seated and told that someone would be right with us. They were not busy at all and I do understand staffing issues, but it was 15 min before we were even approached for a drink. A young girl came over stating she was not a server but she was getting our drinks.. We finally got our drinks and waited another 10 minutes for our "server" to show up. She was very cold and short with us almost seemed annoyed we were there. We ordered our entrees and 2 salads. It took another 15 to 20 minutes before our salads were brought out again by the 1st young girl. Our food eventually showed up and and was definitely not prepared the way it usually is. We order the same thing every time. By this time our drinks were completely empty and our server Jenny C had no intentions of filling them as she began to walk away. I asked her for refills which she eventually brought although she seemed annoyed. She never came back to check on us although although our entire side of the restaurant was completely empty. I was very disappointed in my entree as I mentioned before it was prepared differently with A different sauce. I did ask her to bring extra sauce and she brought a teriyaki sauce and flung it on the table. I poured it all over my pasta and chicken entree then realizing that it was teriyaki sauce instead of the honey barbecue sauce it was supposed to be. As mentioned before she never came back to check for me to complain. So $50 for a very disappointing lunch. We came here specifically for this meal because it is my son's favorite and we were celebrating him getting his license today. Jenny missed out on a good tip by being annoyed with us. Do better! It was a waste of $80+ dollars. Even though I hadn't been to Applebee's in approximately 20 years, I had never ever had a bad meal from any Applebee's before. Furthermore, I had frequented many different Applebee's with friends and co-workers before that. So I decided to take my parents here for their very first time! I ordered the THE CLASSIC COMBO appetizer, which comes with Boneless Wings, Chicken Quesadilla, Mozzarella Sticks and Spinach and Artichoke Dip, for all 3 of us. My mom ordered some FUNKY Asian CHICKEN WONTON TACOS, my dad ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries and I ordered the 8 OZ. TOP SIRLOIN Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Salad instead of Broccoli and a bottle of IBC Root Bear, which tasted like Diet Soda! Our waitress was young, attractive and smiled but barely came to the table, The appetizer came to the table, fairly quickly and was quite good! However, It took an exceptionally long time for our meal to finally arrive at our table! My Steak was beautiful and thick, not very big, (just like the picture in the Applebee's menu), but it was less than Luke-warm! and my Mashed Potatoes were less than Luke-warm! My dad didn't like his Cheeseburger or his Fries, either! And my mom's tacos had very little chicken in them and they didn't taste like the tacos that we are accustomed to! There were no Steak Sauces at the table and my dad pointed out the NASTY Salt Shaker/Grinder that was at our table! The side that the Salt comes out from is the side that sits on the table - GROSS!!! My mother and I stopped for dinner the other night. It was the first time in almost a year. The restaurant was only half full but we waited almost 5 minutes before we saw an employee to seat us. As we looked at the menu and waited to be addressed by our server, the server for the table next to us greeted them. He was very clean-cut and friendly. He offered suggestions and took their orders in a professional manner. In my mind, that set the tone for the night. Then our server came to the table. I could hear him before I saw him. He was laughing out loud and said "shut up!" to someone. He was scruffy and his clothes were unkempt. He asked what we wanted to drink and proceeded to stretch his arm over his head and start scratching his back while he yawned with his mouth wide open. He noticed my look of surprise and claimed it had been a long day. It took awhile to get our drinks, and I was missing my side shot. It took another 10 minutes to get that. The lady that delivered the food was very nice and asked if we needed anything else. Our server did not pre-buss our table. Our salad plates and our empty glasses were still on the table when we left. The other two tables in his section were also covered with dirty dishes even though they had been vacated for over 15 minutes. The food was good, but the service was sub-par. I did not see a manager the whole time I was there. As a person with many years of server and management experience, I was not thrilled with our visit. It may be another year or so...
