I'm giving it four stars, though it really earned three. My son and I decided to try it for lunch today around 11:30. We decided to split the full rack of ribs only to find out they didn't actually have a full rack ready (so the doors are unlocked, but they're not ready for business). As a result we at 3/4 of a rack with mac 'n cheese and baked beans. The mac 'n cheese was average at best, and the beans were mushy but had good flavor. My son loved the ribs, but I was not as satisfied. While they separated quite nicely from the bone, they were slightly dry. Additionally, the bbq sauce is very strong, and it over-powers any smokey flavor that may exist in the meat. For me, that's disappointing. They get four vice three stars because the staff is incredibly friendly, the beer is reasonably priced, and they knocked $7 bucks off the ribs since they didn't have a full rack, making them almost 50% off. Because the food was good enough and they cared to make good on the situation, I will absolutely give them another shot. See you again soon Bono's of...
Read moreIf you are familiar with the area, you can probably find it just fine. My GPS, however, took a few loops, trying to get to this establishment. I was in there on Saturday 5/7, a little before 4PM and took my food to go. Unfortunately, by the time we had the boat tied up and we started eating, it was too late to take it back. The brisket... well, that's what they called it, anyway. It was the DRIEST, DARKEST brisket I've ever seen. It was brittle! I just cracked off each bite, base there was no cutting to it. It shattered. I can't believe an employee would even SERVE THIS! It was horrible! I gave them the second star, ONLY because the potato salad and the mac n cheese were quite good. Normally, this chain is better. Could have been an off day, I've never been to this location (Fleming Island), but I'm told it's usually very good. I don't live in the area and it was past closing when we returned to the boat ramp, so going back to talk to the manager wasn't really an option. Meh. I'd be...
Read moreI always enjoy Bono's BBQ. This Bono's is in a great location that is near other businesses and is easy to get in and out of. The food is really good and there is a good variety. You can choose your portion size, which I like. I got the medium portion and had enough to take home and bring for lunch the next day. They offer a good selection of sides, with an additional 2 to 3 "sides of the day". The server was friendly (but not overly friendly, which makes me uncomfortable ), courteous and prompt. The noise level was moderate. In other words, we might not have been able to hear a pin drop; but there wasn't anything loud enough to be annoying. There are televisions, and one was on the Olympics. The price for one medium platter, one large 2 - entree platter and drinks was right under $20. I will definitely eat there again, and would recommend this restaurant. There is only one reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. 5 stars is for "absolutely cannot be any better",...
