A couple colleagues and I visited the islander very briefly. I entertain clients in Pensacola several times a year and the Islander is usually a no brainer of a bar for casual drinks and music. On this particular night it was exceptionally "different." Upon entering the front door a gentle person wearing a tank top with sickly arms greeted us with glaring eyes. Despite the unwelcoming greeting we entered the initial hallway to the bar. Immediately we were greeted with the stench of vomit. We chalked it up to a patron getting sick in the hall, but the smell only got worse as we ventured further into the bar. Overwhelmed by the smell we decided to leave within minutes of entering. By this time the sickly fellow in the tank top was back in the bar and was threatening to fight us. No one in our party wanted to hurt this sickly, weak little man, so we decided to depart the establishment. I was embarrassed to suggest the bar and will reconsider for future visits. I hope that sickly, frail man can find solace on his ineptitude and treat visitors...
Read morewalked in for my friends birthday and felt like we were not welcomed. We paid to play music on the jukebox and they turned it off and played obnoxiously loud music. It felt like it was out of spite from us playing music. Mind you when we walked in there was NO music playing. There were a group of people that were constantly looking back at us when we were playing pool. As we were walking out the people AND THE BARTENDER asked us where we were going next (mind you they were being very standoffish). We replied not here because we feel unwelcome. One of the men came up to us and tried to start conversation and was being rude. The bartender then told us to “go somewhere else” after we had tipped her well on the one drink...

We meet Jocelyn on Wednesday night. Very sweet and very accommodating.
