This restaurant claims boldly to have the best burger on Santa Rosa Island, and I can assure that they deliver!
I wouldn't necessarily consider what they have to be a smash burger, as it's 8 oz. of meat in a format that looks exactly like 8 oz. of meat, but once you bite into the burger you will forget about the naming crisis. Everything is give to you in a format that easily allows you to assemble your sandwich however you would like and with whatever ingredients you care to have on it. I think I could've gone with just the meat and cheese. The flavour is perfect on the meat, and is cooked great! A much better burger than even Five Guys, and that's before I mention the fries. I personally think the homemade flavour of the cajun fries makes it great.
The down home atmosphere and the nice mom and pop service ties it all together for a wonderful beach experience, exactly what we were looking for.

Read moreThe whole meal was delicious! I ordered the burger of the month which was the Caprese burger and the basil pesto with balsamic glaze made the burger top notch! My fiancé ordered the patty melt smash burger which was also delicious! He ordered the potato salad for the side, and it was a good southern style salad and very good! For dessert, I had the best ice cream I’ve ever had! Coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell! I will be dreaming of that ice cream until I have it again! My fiancé had the Abita Root Beer float which I’m sure was good but I couldn’t stop eating the coconut ice cream. Our waitress was super sweet and made sure to keep our drinks full! The atmosphere is definitely small, but also small crowd. Beautiful artwork in the room, including a really cool oyster bar (see picture). The restaurant is in a strip mall that has plenty of parking. Overall, I love this place and...

The Reef in Pensacola Beach offers decent eats in a casual setting. Here's the scoop:
Burgers: We tried their burgers, which were advertised as "smash burgers" but ended up being more like regular double cheeseburgers. While not quite what we expected, they were still good, especially considering it's a beach town (we admit, our home state has spoiled us with amazing beef!)
Spicy Cheese Curds with Caution: Many rave about the spicy cheese curds in these reviews, but be warned - they're seriously spicy! Unless you love the heat, you might want to skip them.
Small Space, Big Popularity: The Reef is tiny, and every table was full during our visit. It seems like a popular spot!
Overall: The Reef gets a 4.5-star rating. Their burgers are good, but the cheese curds are fire (literally!). It's a casual spot with limited space, but popular...
