This is the gem of Fleming Island! Between the amazing chef and Kristina the bar manager working the bar this place is the best spot in town. Kristina makes the best cocktails and runs very right ship beyond anything I’ve seen outside of a 5m plus population city. A small and quaint establishment cladded with soft sofas and arm chairs everywhere, it feels like the place you want to come and spend and hour or two to forget about the rest of the world. This is similar to places in larger cities like Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles but nothing like anywhere within 100 miles of Fleming. Two of the servers Caleigh and Ashley D are dolls and always remembers every single person that walks in if you’ve been there more than once. This is the kind of service that isn’t necessary but so much loved by those that have lived in much larger cities where completion is so tough. Here they don’t have to but they do because they are truly trained by the chef to be the best in class for any city and it shows. Their charcuterie trays are legendary and way over the top and the love and passion that goes into each on as a small piece of art.
Congrats to the chef and his staff for making this amazing place in a sea of style and refinement of eateries in Fleming! Walk in the door of Corks and Barrel and take yourself into a trip to a major city in America that promises the world and delivers...
Read moreOne word: EXPENSIVE.
I get that fancy drinks take time, and that some bourbons are hard to get, so the price goes up.
But, an $8 can of Michelob Ultra? A $10 can of Jai Alai?
EDIT: The owner says that this is for a 20oz beer. This could be the case, as the menu didn't specify that. I still think the prices are high, but it's their right to sell their product for whatever they want.
I got the house Old Fashioned wiith whatever bourbon they typically use (Ammunition, I think). It was super sweet, and had an odd flavor. This is because they use Licor 43 in them. That has no business being in an Old Fashioned.
With all of this said, the ambiance/vibe of the place was great. The staff was awesome, and very friendly. But, I don't see myself ever going back.
P.s. the individual pours of whiskey are also very expensive. On average, three pours would pay for an entire...
Read moreMy sister introduced me to this place. I was immediately taken back (in a good way) by the service. Mr. John was our bartender and greeted us right away - he greeted everyone who came in and would also alert the servers to new patrons that needed service. He was extremely attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was great as well. We got the chef’s choice small charcuterie board with duck and beef and one pork since my sister doesn’t eat pork. I wasn’t a fan of the cheeses matched with the meats but it’s also because I had my heart set on a few specific cheeses (I love cheese.) The ham that came with the board was great - not chewy or stringy which my palette is sensitive to as a picky eater, especially with textures. Atmosphere was good with a great band, clean bathroom. I will definitely be back even solo to just enjoy a nice...
