It's Domino's. They make pizzas and things and deliver them to you. They also charge for the delivery, but you are still expected to tip the driver - who didn't take the order, refill your water glass, or bring you silverware. Which I find rather odd, considering Domino's is charging for the delivery.
It would be like going to Cracker Barrel, ordering with a server who also brought you water and silverware, and then charging a fee to have that server bring the food from the kitchen to the table. You thought the tip was for that feature of the experience, but it isn't, and the fee is non-negotiable. The tip? That's totally negotiable. In fact, you actually aren't required to tip at all.
So, Domino's charges you for their pretty decent pizzas and things, then charges you to deliver your order, and then expects you to also tip their employee, which I presume solely exists so Domino's can reduce the amount of money they have to pay the delivery driver. But then where is the delivery fee going?
Well, I know it isn't going to the driver because they want you to tip them. And I doubt it's going to the quality of their salads because their salads are horrible. Similarly, it's not likely going to the quality of their pizzas because then the cost of the pizzas themselves would go up. This all leaves me to believe the delivery fee is actually going to insurance, which is also really strange.
It would be like Cracker Barrel, who surely has to have property insurance, liability, worker's compensation, etc., but then, instead of them absorbing that into their general operating costs, they then slap a fee on to every bill and pass the cost onto you. Strange, right?
Now, Domino's likely also has these insurances as well, but they don't likely have the same high premiums that restaurants like Cracker Barrel have. I mean, some Domino's have one or two tables inside for customers to sit while they wait for their pizzas and things, but they aren't serving a full dining room, or having to staff a full restaurant in order to accommodate a full dining room or a large menu. They serve pizzas and a few other variations on that product.
Do you know what it costs to make a pizza? Having previously managed a pizza restaurant, I know the cost per pie was around $1.50, and we were using higher quality ingredients than Domino's or pretty much any pizza delivery company. That covered homemade dough, sauce, and toppings. But we were a single establishment with next to no bargaining power over the price of our ingredients. Domino's is a massive multinational company with equally massive bargaining power. My guess is that each of their pies averages out to a cost of $0.15.
But, anywho, I digress, Domino's is my preferred pizza...
Read moreNot a good experience at all. I called in an order for carry out, they said it would be 35 mins. So got there about 40 mins later. When I walked in, I paid, then the same guy walked out for a delivery. He told me pizza would be out in 5 mins. So I waited, note...I had my son's party I was heading to and didn't want to be late. Anyways, I waited, about 20 mins past...not once did someone talk to me and ask me what I was waiting for. Two women in there looked busy, I get it, but not once took the time to ask me or other waiting customers what we needed or apologize at least for the wait. I tried to ask 3 times for help or an update, and still no answer. It literally took me to walk to the back where they were prepping the pizza to get in their face and ask where was my pizza. She then tells me it would be another 10 mins. This would be over an hour for a pizza I called in for carry out. Needless to say I had to go drop off my family at the party location so we wouldn't be late, and drive all the way back to the Domino's. They didn't apologize, offer something free...nothing. this is horrendous customer service. I love Domino's but I will never come to this location again! I demand good customer service and at least make it up for being late with my...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER FROM THIS LOCATION!!!! Ordered a pizza over the phone. Delivery time said 1113-1123. I received a call at 1108 saying the delivery guy had already attempted to deliver with no response and the delivery guy told me to come to the store to pick up the pizza. I was using the restroom and therefore missed him at the door. I arrived at the store at 1120 to pick up the pizza and the workers would not let me in saying they were closed. The workers were standing there in the window eating a pizza in front of my face while refusing me service. I sat outside the store and called the delivery driver back three times and he did not answer. Online it says the store doesn’t close until midnight. It’s currently 1123 and i am writing this review while sitting outside the store watching the workers eat my pizza. I had no problem with picking up the order since i missed the delivery. I live close so i was able to make it to the store with 40 minutes to spare before closing time. That left plenty of time left to retrieve the order. Thanks to the workers trying to close early and refusing me service while eating what i presume to be my pizza right in front of me, I was not able to receive the order. 10/10 WOULD NOT...
