This review will be lengthy, if you want good pizza and are not worried about customer service, this is the place for you. If treatment of customers is a concern for where you take your business, please feel free to read our experience.
We are from CT and have had a hard time finding pizza in our opinion that compares in Florida. I completely understand pizza is subjective and people can be passionate about the “best”. I stumbled upon Dave Portnoy’s review of Fantini’s and was super excited. It is a 45 minute drive from Jupiter which we were happy to do. We went and loved the food, the service wasn’t great as our waitress was quite snippy and the owner when checking on our table was not overly friendly. However, because we loved the pizza we decided to try it again. We visited on a Saturday night arriving around 5:00. There were 4 people in our party and 2 were 10 minutes behind. I approached the hostess and explained to her our situation and if she wanted us to wait until they arrived and she assured us it was no problem and sat us. They were there within 10 minutes. We ordered our drinks. Now a quick addition to the story, my father has been in the hospital and we were told he would be spending an additional night. After we ordered our drinks the hospital called and they unexpectedly released him. I left to pick him up and would return to pick up my mother. The waiter asked where I was going and my mother and rest of the party explained the situation to which the waiter replied, this is Saturday night we have to turn over tables fast. My mother was taken back by his response but quickly assured him that this would not affect anything, they weren’t waiting for us to come back, they would order and eat like normal. They ordered appetizers and the main courses. The waiter said after delivering the appetizers that he would wait to put the pizzas in for 15 minutes and my mother told him no that is not necessary to please just do what he needed to do. As they were finishing the pizza and getting ready to order dessert my father and I arrived back. As they were ordering dessert and coffee, my father and I finished the pizza and helped to finish the dessert. The waiter brought the check and as he went to run the cards, the owner of the restaurant rushed up to our table and said exactly this in a loud shouting voice, “WE NEED THE TABLE, GET OUT NOW”. His mother, the hostess, came up behind him and said stop and trying to get him to leave, he quickly left and she began to apologize for him. We were trying to explain to him that we were waiting for the waiter to return with our cards but he wouldn’t even allow us to speak. She continued to apologize as the waiter returned. We signed our checks and still gave a 20% percent tip. As we exited my aunt began speaking with his mother again and she kept apologizing for her son. My aunt said I appreciate that but it should be him who is apologizing. She left to ask him to come and apologize to which he refused. She requested us to return to the restaurant again and promised to make it right, even if it came out of her own pocket. While we appreciate her apologies and kindness, and truly enjoyed the food, the treatment of the owner was disgusting. I have eaten at more places than I can count and have NEVER EVER been treated like this. After all was said and done we entered the restaurant and left in 1 hour and 45 minutes and never once asked to delay service. We ordered drinks, appetizers, food and dessert in a timely manner. Funny thing is when we ate at the restaurant the one time previously we had to wait over an hour for our pizza and not once did we complain. We were enjoying the customers next to us and looking forward to the food. I understand being busy and having people waiting but to talk to customers that way, who have done nothing is unacceptable. As much as I will miss the pizza, I will never visit this...
Read moreMy husband & I arrived on a Saturday evening at about 6pm & we were lucky enough to get a table. We wanted a pie but we are told it would take 45 minutes because their deliveries were priority. Not wanting to hold up a table we ordered a pie to go but also ordered entrees. This is where we went wrong. He ordered eggplant parm & I ordered Bucatini Carbonara no meat. These are our go-tos. His was ok, eggplant was thick & portion was on the smaller side for the price. Mine came out & instantly knew it wasn't right. I love both Italian & Amercanized carbonara & this wasn't either. It was HEAVY on the pepper, no onions, no peas, no cream, no egg yolk. It was Cacio e Pepe. I called the waitress over & explained. She apologized, alerted the manager & had the dish remade. When it came out the 2nd time (well after my husband finished his food) it was EXACTLY the same dish minus pepper. I'm not sure if it was a miscommunication or if they truly believe that is carbonara. If I rated on my Carbonara experience it would be 1 star. The entrees were on the expensive side. I think it was $25-ish for the not-carbonara. I don't mind paying $25 for pasta as long as it's made the right way & it's delicious but this place doesn't do it for me based solely on my carbonara.. As I am finishing my meal, my husband reminded her about the pie & she had remembered (I believe our waitress was Marina - she was EXCELLENT). The pie was ready & we paid the bill and home we went. We couldn't wait to try the pie. HOLY MOTHER OF THIN PIES! By FAR, the best thin, well done pizza I've ever had. They call it New Haven, but it reminds me of Neapolitan. It saved the night. Not that our food was bad, it wasn't. It just wasn't up to par & then the issue with mine. The pizza has blinded me to any other issues, it was THAT GOOD. It was almost a spiritual experience. We absolutely will be back for pizza.
If you are looking for a different take on pizza on The Treasure Coast, THIS is it. We've added it to our regular rotation. Now, if we can only get delivery to...
Read moreThe despicable character of the owners will prevent me from ever returning. I arrived at the store 40 minutes after placing an order for pick up (one large pie), which was the time quoted when I ordered the pizza. When I arrived, I was informed it would take longer. After 30 more minutes had passed, I asked for the status of my order. I received a backhanded semi-apology and was told, "It will be worth it." So I waited longer quietly. In total, I waited 1 hour and 40 minutes since placing my order for 1 pizza. At that point, I asked the woman up front Diane, "Honestly, what time did the pie go in?" She pointed to a pile of order slips and condescendingly told me she didn't know, there were a lot of orders. I would imagine the pie didn't go into the oven until at least a half an hour after I walked in. I asked her if they were still going to charge me for the pizza and she gave me a dirty look and replied, "Absolutely". I told her that was disappointing considering how long I had been waiting. She then called to the owner in the back and told him there was someone who needed to talk to him. He looked through the window and yelled to me, "Come back Monday. I'll talk to you then." He then escalated, walked over to the window and yelled to me, "Do you want the pie? If you don't want it, you don't need to have it." I was appalled at the blatant disregard for customer service, or even just common decency to others. As I was having this interaction with the owner, I see Diane winking to another customer, as if she was somehow enjoying this situation. I was then told that I was the only one who had an issue with having to wait an hour and a half for a pizza. To Fantini's- I don't know how good your pizza is, it may very well be fantastic. I don't know because I've been too sick to my stomach and enraged at the treatment I received at your store to eat it. But please know, no matter how good your food is, you will not succeed if this is how you treat people. There is no place for the lack character you displayed...
