The service I received today was disgusting, disheartening, and uncalled for. My fiancée and I made a quick stop at this Golden Krust location to grab a quick bite for ourselves and our kids. We ordered some jamaican patties and fried chicken. When we got to the car and opened the container with the chicken, it was all chopped up. In all my years of eating at Golden Krust I have NEVER gotten my fried chicken chopped up, and I've been to the Waterford Lakes, Kissimmee, Colonial AND Hiawassee location NUMEROUS TIMES. My fiancée did not want the chicken chopped up, and the way the bone was broken up into sharp pieces throughout the meat, it was not safe to give to my toddler who is Autistic. My fiancée went back into the restaurant to ask if they could replace the chicken and not chop it up and for whatever reason they couldn't understand what he was asking for because of "his American accent". When I went into the restaurant to try to rectify the issue, the 2 servers start swearing up and down that they ALWAYS chop the chicken up and a request has to be made to get the chicken whole when ordering. I explained to the ladies I've never had to ask for the chicken whole, and I've never had anyone serve me the chicken chopped up at any location in over 10 years. Secondly, they are not the ONLY employees that work there, so anyone else could've served the food differently. The employee who wasn't serving me gets mad and starts chastising me for not wanting the chicken chopped up to the point where she starts talking to the customer she's serving in her Jamaican twang chastising and mocking me and making statements suggesting that it's a cultural issue saying that that's how caribbean people eat it. They thought that because of my lack of an island accent that I was American and did not understand them. It was never a cultural thing it was a PERSONAL PREFERENCE and a matter of safety for my child.
Although my fiancée is American, I, on the other hand, am of Caribbean heritage and have lived there half of my life. If it was not for me introducing him to Golden Krust he wouldn't have visited that restaurant. Next time consider the fact that 9 times out of 10 an AMERICAN visiting your establishment was introduced to it by a Caribbean person who spoke highly of it. Caribbean people ALONE don't fund this business! So to make an American feel unwelcome because of their personal preference...
Read moreThe food wasn't bad and I would have given this place a better rating, but because of my paying experience I give this place 1 star. As I was paying my bill I was told to put my card back in a second time in their card machine and because of this I ended up paying a second bill. Just to be sure I checked my bank account and sure enough the two transactions was there. I showed the restaurant staff the two charges on my account and I was told to come back tomorrow because it still showed pending. My situation was not taken seriously and I felt dismissed. Any other professional business would have reimbursed me for the bill that wasn't mine, but instead I was told by Golden Krust staff to call my bank and have them deal with it and come back tomorrow if it went through and show them my receipt even though they already saw what had happened. This is very unprofessional conduct and that's not how you treat customers.I won't be coming back here no matter how good the food is because of my experience. If you decide to still come here, please DO NOT use your debit/credit card. I would not want anyone else to go through what I went through and now I have to get my bank involved in something that could have been settled at the restaurant. Be safe out there! Scammers come in all places...
Read moreThis was my first visit since the renovation/move from across the street. When they were at the old location I did not like the food at all, it was bland. I had some family in town that convinced the group to come here and at first I was apprehensive but I’m glad I gave them another shot. I got stew chicken with rice and peas. They give a fair portion size and they have decent prices. The stew chicken was juicy and had a good spicy flavor to it. I did not enjoy the rice however. It tasted like parboiled rice which I don’t like and it was a bit more on the softer side almost mushy. I prefer my rice and peas to be shelly not soft. My other family members got jerk chicken. They said they enjoyed it and it was also spicy nicely seasoned. Next time I’ll try the oxtail plate or the oxtail rasta pasta which looked really good. We ate in stores and I’m glad we came at the time we did (about 2:10-2:15pm) bc right after we paid for our meals a bunch of people came and they were waiting for a really long time. As we ate it didn’t seem like the line was moving at all. At one point all of the workers went into the back and no one was serving food. I guess it’s a hit or miss if you’ll be there a while. The restaurant is clean with a decent amount of seating area both inside...
