If you look at my past reviews, you will see I hardly ever give a fast food joint higher than three stars.
However, Hazel's Hot Dogs deserves a high four stars mark for me.
The flavor of their Chicago Dog is very close to a hot dog you can get in Chicago ... 93% of the way there.
The guys working there were very friendly and a joy to talk to.
It definitely look like a hot dog hut in Chicago... except Hazel's has a bathroom that is cleaner than some of the Publix supermarkets. You will not find that in Chicago.
Having a clean washroom indicates a well-maintained kitchen. I say this because usually for a fast food place, the bathroom is the last thing to be taken care of. The fact that Hazel's has a clean bathroom for customers demonstrates their mindset towards customers.
The pricing is spot on with dogs back in Chicago. Since moving here I have been very disappointed that restaurants are, on average, 30% more than in Chicago yet the quality is not there.
Hazels pricing and quality is spot on. I strongly suggest trying them out, you will not be disappointed.
For you Chicago transplants, this is a must...
Read moreSure they're known for their dogs, but they serve absolutely the best fries in town. I'm not positive but i'm pretty sure they are house-made. Douse 'em with some vinegar or ketchup or mustard...fantastic! I really gotta start ordering the large...i'm stuffed with the mall but they are soooo good! Oh, and you can get 'em with chili and cheese, too! Dogs? What about the dogs, you say? Well, sadly for me they don't offer a veggie dog, but they've got every other kind you could want and my teenager, who is discerning about his dogs, tells me they are the best. He goes for the bacon and cheese wrapped. Me, I'd go for the datil pepper. Not a lot of space for parking so going during off peak hours, and there's just a couple picnic tables so don't plan on seating the whole squad, but once you've been you...
Read moreThis has been a favorite lunch spot of mine since like 2015 and I was at FCTC. I live in Jacksonville, but it's 100% worth the drive down just to get some food here. Employees have always been lovely. The food has never had anything to complain about and always comes out fast. There are picnic tables to eat at that are clean. Easy to find right off US1. It is a small location, but they do what they can with parking. Around rush hour lunch it can be hard to find a spot, but in the past I've been able to either park on the side of US1, or down a block and walk to here. In all, in you want good hotdogs and fries, this is the place I'd recommend to everyone. My favorite is their chili...
