My wife and I went into Gentile's today expecting to get a great cheesteak. It was around noon on Saturday so we were hoping it wasn't too busy. Well we were right, there was only about 5 people in there and they were all waiting on their food...hmmmm. We went up to the counter and there was one cook guy in back who was wearing ear buds moving in slow motion. There was one other disinterested employee lady who appeared to be the one running the front of the house. She saw us come in and didn't acknowledge us and turned and went to the kitchen. No problem, she was maybe trying to get all the empty tabled folks their food? We stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting to order our food. She glanced at us again and then proceeded to answer a call in the back instead. A simple acknowledgment or "be with you in a minute" would have sufficed. Again, we just got completely ignored again for another 5 minutes. At least in Philly they disrespect you to your face! When it became apparent that they didn't give a crap about their customers, we simply were forced to leave if we wanted to eat that day. Folks, there are plenty of food establishments in the area, unfortunately Gentile's won't be one of them very soon with this horrendous customer service. Don't waste your time, they will...

I heard all the rave about Gentiles and the cheese steaks. So I set out to try 3 places, one being Gentiles. I am from Delaware county Pa, so I know what a cheese steak is suppose to taste like. My wife and I ordered our cheese steaks, sat down and waited. They brought them to the table and we commenced eating. My first couple of bites I new something was wrong but I didn’t want to mention it to my wife. Low and behold after she took several bites, she said this is dry. I reacted by saying the same thing. These cheese steaks were dry and tasteless. Why is everyone bragging about this place, the steaks were terrible. Here are the other two places that are better. Delicious. Don't let the outside fool you. Go in and grab something to eat. You can also order via Uber Eats if you don't want something you have to select just put it in the comments. I wanted my steak with whiz and onions not mushrooms but had to select mushrooms. They got the order with my stipulation of no mushrooms and I got a perfect steak just the way I wanted. Seriously get some of this. Small local shop, help support them in these crazy times.

Finally got back down to Sarasota in July 2021 and had to grab me a steak because of my previous trip and stumbled upon Gentile's (gen tee lee's). Sill outstanding quality and taste.
