My daughter, my husband and I went here for an early dinner this past Sunday. My husband brought home some funnel cakes from there once that were absolutely amazing, but this was my first time getting to go in person. I have to say it is a great concept! Some people wait all year for the fair to come to town so they can get their hands on funnel cakes, and giant turkey legs. The idea that you don't have to wait, you can just get them whenever, pretty much embodies the spirit of 2020s, doesn't it? Unfortunately we didn't order anything that you can only get at the fair on this visit. It's not that it wouldn't have been delicious, it's just that nothing jumped out at us. I got a large order of their crispy waffle fries smothered in bacon crumbles and cheese sauce. My husband got a cheese burger, and my daughter chose the two corn dogs with fries. Everything was cooked well, tasted good, and hit the spot. The employees were all fresh faced in their late teens maybe early twenties kids just starting out in the work force. These minimum wage jobs are perfect for kids who are learning what it means to work hard and make extra money. It's not easy working in the service industry, when you get to be in your thirties and forties it can be pure hell. It's nice to see young people behind the counter, they're having a good time working together, building friendships, and customer service skills that will help them out a lot in the long run. They did a great job serving us. The young man that took our order did mistake our "To Go" for "Eat Here", we weren't in a hurry. He was very nice, and didn't mess up our food order, and that's what really matters. We got our drinks, and condiments, and took our seats in a booth. It wasn't long before a different young man brought our food right to our table. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty blah, don't get me wrong, there was nothing overtly wrong with it. It was not dirty, or messy or anything like that. The kids take excellent care of the place. It's just that the building is an old Burger King, and you can tell that even if you haven't lived here as long as me. It looks like an old Burger King, the tile outside is that old brown tile, the building has the same style, just a new paint job. They had an opportunity to do so much interior design; with the fair angle, they could've had so much fun with it and made it very appealing. Instead it just felt like something they put together overnight following Burger King's old template. It was a very uninspired design for such an inspired idea, you know? Don't let my harsh judgement of the atmosphere turn you off from eating their food. They make a mean funnel cake, and great smothered crispy waffle fries. Everything we've eaten there, we enjoyed. The service is great, they take good care of their customers, and have good morale. The kids that work there seem to like each other, and that makes the service they provide so much better. Since it's an old Burger King you can see most of the kitchen from the counter, you can see that it's kept in good working order. The dining room is tidy, tables wiped down, floor clean, and condiments well stocked. Overall those kids do a great job, and serve good food. If you're in the mood for some fair food without the upset tummy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited 7-4-25 3pm. OK, this place is a trip. We were headed back to St Pete and Googled restaurants, trying to find something before getting back. My GF says we're going to Juicy's Fair Food. I said WHAT? She said it sounded weird so we should go check it out. OK, GPS, take us. Pulled into the lot about 15 min later, and it was big. I thought it would be a hole in the wall, but it's not. Big building, big lot, and big outdoor brick cooking area. OK, looking good. Colorful and fun vibe. Go in and it's counter ordering so menu on the wall. So much to see and crazy, fair food menu items, just as advertised. We ordered corn dogs, a Juicy Smashburger, roasted corn, deep fried Twinkie, funnel cake, and the gal comped us a couple of deep fried Oreos. Are you kidding? What a gorpy, delicious, decadent meal. Everything was perfect and delicious, but we felt SO full. Just a pile of weird stuff eaten all at once. At least at the fair, you have to walk from one food truck to another. Here it was all on our table in front of us at the same time. But, how fun is that? We laughed and joked through the whole meal and had a blast. I am NOT a fan of deep fried Twinkie's, though, surprisingly. Maybe just me. So, overall, really fun stop. Certainly might not be for everyone, and if I lived here we probably wouldn't come often, but it was perfect for our day on vacation looking for something wild to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm a pretty picky fast food eater. I won't eat at McDs at all, and not most of the things on the B-King menu. So when my husband wanted to stop at Juicy's I was thinking it wasn't going to be very good, since it's Fair food, which most of the time is usually just expensive and never meets my expectations.
I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and waffle fries and my husband got 2 of their "little" cheeseburgers. Everything was fantastic. The waffle fries were seasoned but not too salty. The Cheese Steak was huge ! It had a lot of very tender, not real greasy beef and provolone cheese (not fake cheese sauce) with freshly sauteed onions and peppers. The bun was fresh and had the right chew, wasn't mushy or stale tasting. I am a massively big eater, so I was surprised that I could only eat half the Cheese Steak and half the fries.
My husband said his cheeseburgers were excellent. They had a nice size beef patty like you'd make at home with lots of lettuce, tomato and cheese. He was impressed with the size and the fact that they didn't use shredded lettuce, but whole pieces of iceberg lettuce.
They are a little on the pricey side, but for the quality of the food it is spot on. I was also impressed that they use all biodegradable, paper wrapping and paper bags.
We will definitely be going back to Juicy's to try more things...
