This was a very pleasant recent discovery! I like Peruvian food and this place is nice and casual, just walk-up service but that was fine for me. The place is nice and clean, the staff very nice and good at their work. The food is great! The first time I went, I dined in and got the 1/4 chicken meal with 2 sides - I got black beans and yellow rice - and the food was delicious! That was some of the best roast chicken ever and the black beans and yellow rice were on point! The portions were generous and I had enough for the next day.
They make great fresh condiments too, love the mayoketchup and the garlic mayo/aoli, fantastic compliments to the food and they had more than that. I tried the cilantro mayo/aoli too and it was great.
I went back another time about a week later and tried the delicious steak sandwich on really good bread and juicy tomatoes and added some mayoketchup of which I am now a huge fan of. The steak was tender and very flavorful! It came with a side so I got french fries and dipped them in the garlic mayo and the mayoketchup and I was a very happy diner. The fries were really fresh and crispy, really good. I love that it's affordable and still a great value! Seriously, for about the same price as a crappy McDonald's combo, you can eat like a king and it's a million ways better. Also, they have a great selection of Jarritos which were excellent with the delicious food! Great job...
Read moreNow open Monday-Sunday 11am to 9pm. This is a Peruvian Fast Food joint and has shown promise and popularity in several states. The food rates a 5 in the fast food world but only about a 4 if compared to restaurant quality.
With good food and the budget friendly prices, this place is going to be very busy and popular. I ordered 3 dishes today, the Churrasco w/ Rice and Beans, the Jaleo (typical fried seafood) and Arroz con Mariscos.
The churrasco was just ok, it was overcooked and dry and hard to tell if it was real skirt steak. The Jalea was well flavored but the fried seafood was chewy. The Rice w/ Seafood was very good, well flavored, plump and juicy rice and the seafood just a tad chewy.
They have an onion bar in the back with 4 kinds of onion mix, tomato, garlic, jalapeño and hot sauce. The place is new, clean, busy and chock full of delicious choices. The Pollo Asado looked very good. Recommend you give it a try, great place for a quick meal...
Read moreI have been a fan of La Granja for several years ever since I lived in Miami. Every branch I've eaten at in Miami has been very consistent and the food is great. So I was very excited to see that there was one in Tampa. However, this location doesn’t live up to the standards in Miami. I ordered all of my favorites… seafood fried rice, seafood gumbo, and BBQ wings. The seafood gumbo was good and tastes the same. The seafood fried rice was mushy. I don’t know if they gave me the “seafood rice” which is a different dish instead, but it definitely was not the same consistency as the seafood fried rice I usually get from La Granja. Also, the wings didn’t taste fresh. They tasted like frozen wings that were fried and tossed in BBQ sauce. A bit disappointed. I won’t be back. I’ll stick to the La Granja...
