I found Meson through a Groupon and decided to check it out. I’d recalled a Puerto Rican friend of ours talking about it and how authentic it was. That it “reminded her of Puerto Rico”. Upon walking in, I was greeted from the counter with enthusiasm. I told the lady at the counter that it was my first time there and that I wanted to leave with their best sandwich. The one that was unlike anything I could get at other chains, I think there might have been a small language barrier with my specific question so she had a man named Felipe come over to help. He shook my hand and thanked me for coming in. I asked him the same question and he suggested the “All Pro”. I told him that I was not a big fan of pastrami, and he told me that if I didn’t like it, that he would give me something else. When I asked about their French fries, he said that they were a thicker cut, but asked me if I had ever had a “corn stick”. I hadn’t so he grabbed one for me. It was like a long hush puppy made of rolled and fried corn meal. It coupled with the “mayo ketchup” was VERY good. We talked more while my food was being made. I learned that he was the owner. That his father was the creator of the restaurant chain in Puerto Rico and that they were slowly expanding to Florida and going from there. I honestly cannot recall ever having such an experience in a counter based restaurant. It was pretty incredible.
Needless to say, the All Pro was amazing, and my wife said her Ruben was one of the best she’d had in a long time. A few weeks later, I went back with the last Groupon I had (3 - $7 vouchers) and was met with the same enthusiasm. He even remembered me from before. Again I’d ordered the All pro and my wife a Ruben, both with the corn sticks. Felipe asked what I had gotten and told me that he wanted me to try their Cuban, which from the sound of it had been upgraded with made on premises roasted pork shoulder. He even showed me a picture of them cooked in a roasting pan on his phone. Again, he gave me the same offer. That if I didn’t like it, that he’d give me the All Pro. As with the All Pro, I was far from disappointed as Felipe had promised.
I’m all out of Groupons but I will absolutely stop by when I’m in the area again. Groupon or not, their prices are great for the portion you get. And of course, the service and hospitality just...
Read moreI have seen this new sandwich shop many times on my travels and it looked like a nice place to stop at and check out. So as of 11/3/17 in the evening me and my wife decided to try out this new sandwich shop we never heard of. Well we walked in and found the place to be brand new with a few people eating there which was nice ,so we checked out the menu and saw some things we recognize and some things we didn't. So we approached the counter and were immediately addressed in spanish, in which i asked english please, not a problem. She took our order and we waited for the food. Now here is where the problem started. We were very clear on placing our order and how we wanted it. But the kitchen staff preparing the food did not speak or under stand english very well. We said to go , they made it to eat in. they made the food wrong and what was weird the food was cold. How was that possible u just made it. We were super clear this was our first time there. I guest for them this statement was a oh well moment. So as we picked up our food the staff still addressed us in spanish. And yes we have a look like we have spanish features but we only speak english and where born in the great usa. My point is let's start off in english first until otherwise notified of a different language. Now about the food. For 2 people once again saying this is our first time here. No love on this meal. super duper mega bland. No flavor. Even the salt could not help. Very little meat and lots of lettuce wow. If this is how they treat first timers we will...
Read moreWhat a disappointment we used to love "El Meson" since the beginning back in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 I mean really hard-core fans. About six months ago we decided to have a big family breakfast and order a feast from El Meson, everithing was ok until we go to the main attractions #ElMesotron what a catastrophe my family 👪 reunion was ruined when finding the great #mesotron was hacked i meant poorly made finding the meat inside was a lottery so scarce some of the sandwiches had none... Now six months later we went for a second chance, we now everyone deserves a second chance. We approach the employee at the order register inside the restaurant; make the order and respectfully we explained our last experience and how awful it was just to find out what a rude employees at costumer service can be, luckily for us the manager appears and listen to our concerns regarding how scarce the ingredients inside the mesotron' with a beautiful smile i assume (mask on) she went and check out the order two turkey mesotrones to go. As we arrived home our expectations are high, but guest what! Same problems almost impossible to find the 🍖 . If you plan to charge $19.99 for a two dollar "1libra de pan sobao" you're bad business here in Orlando we have plenty of choices to spend our money I really hope you...
