I wish I could leave a five star review but unfortunately I do not think I can due to how shady the pricing felt. I had a group of 6 that came in and inquired about having a drink and playing some games. The hostess at the front (who was very kind) told us it was $60 for 60 minutes of play. We thought this sounded very reasonable. We had a dinner reservation and didn't know if we would be able to play but the hostess said we could just do 30 minutes and so we thought that sounded like a good idea and decided to do it. We reiterated to the host we only wanted 30 minutes and she confirmed. We then started playing and put in a drink order (the waitress was very nice and friendly.) We were given 7 drinks instead of 6 but we couldn't flag down our waitress to return it (it was busy so I understand, but I was hoping to take it off the bill. We decided not to be difficult and just drank it/accepted if we were charged) I noticed our timer for the games was set to 60 minutes so I informed a man who appeared to be the manager and he said it was no problem and he'd "let them know" we were only scheduled for 30 minutes. When our time was up and we got the bill I nearly spit out my drink. Our total was $192 for 6 (maybe 7) drinks and 30 minutes of play. The worst part was the bill did not come itemized so we couldn't tell where the overcharge was happening if there was one happening. Nowhere on the bill did it say gratuity was included. After we paid there was a gratuity line so we put down tip there. We were in a rush to make our dinner reservation but afterwards I did the math and we were absolutely overcharged. Even if they charged us for 60 minutes of play at $60 even though we only asked for 30, and if you considered every drink $15 (accounting for tax even though our drinks were less than that) that still would only be a bill of $145-160. So where did the extra $30 come from? Im assumed added gratuity they did not inform us about or some type of undisclosed service charge. Then I read other reviews where people said they were charged $80 an hour and now I'm wondering if we were even told the correct price for 60mins let alone 30. The lack of an itemized bill was very sketchy and I'm still peeved I didn't complain about being overcharged before leaving the establishment. The place does not get 1 or 2 stars because the staff was kind and the games were fun.... but the way they charge...
Read more4.50 for a 50 cent bag of Ruffles (off the "appetizer" menu).
It's not about the money. This is simply one of the many things that this oddly staffed establishment got wrong.
Upon entering our reserved booth (for the kids to play games on the big screen while we watched the football game), my wife attempted to order a bucket of Grapefruit High Noon. In case you're unaware, it's a rather popular seltzer available anywhere. The Bud Light of this decade, if you will.
"I'm sorry, we're out of them," the waitress replied.
"How about the watermelon," my wife asked.
"I'm sorry, we're out of them," the waitress replied.
"How about the lime--''
The waitress offered a broken smille. "We're out of those, too."
My wife eventually fumbled through the menu for long enough to find a drink.
My 5 year old daughter asked for the cheddar popcorn. She was aware of it from previewing the menu the night before, in the hotel room. A finicky eater, it was really the only thing she was interested in snacking on from a bar.
"I'm sorry, we're out of the popcorn," the waitress replied.
We picked another popcorn flavor.
You guessed it. They were out of it, too.
Then, we ordered sodas for the kids.
An errant football spilled one of the kid's drinks. After the waitress cleaned it up, she promised another.
Did it come?
No.
Did anyone get refills?
No.
Any questions asked by the waitstaff regarding our needs, desires, or anything, for that matter?
No.
We did order the "loaded" nachos when we arrived. Something to nibble on while we scanned the menu.
A plate of microwaved tortilla chips with a sparce serving of black beans ladled over the top arrived fifteen minutes later.
Loaded?
I think not.
In short, if you've got a game to watch, go ahead and give them a try.
Just drink draft beer at the bar.
It's the only way you'll maintain a full glass and have any reassurance they've got what you want on hand.
Actually. Don't bother. They'll certainly make you as disappointed as I am right now.
This place has now snatched the worst dining experience from the gas station in Grants, New Mexico, where I got food poisoning from a...
Read moreMy company hosted a corporate event at Hard Rock this week. We were a really large group who had booked a buyout at the Oasis Pool for a branded sponsor event. It was our last event of the conference and we were excited to have a fun relaxed event after the 3 days of conferences. Unfortunately, there was a lightning storm, and the venue we were supposed to be moved to (in the event of bad weather) had miscommunicated to our hotel and event coordinator and we were unable to have any marketing materials or branding in any of the public facing bar areas. We had to pivot to find another space to host and feed our large event with basically an hour and a half notice. Jeff, Chris and Jennifer (along with the entire supporting staff on shift) were unbelievable. Jeff and Chris worked together to allow our group to rent out all of the bays and back tables. They worked with us on everything we needed, letting us decorate the space for our company, letting us order large quantities of platters and plates, make our area feel intimate and private, they provided us some sway over the music (since our crowd was more corporate). Most places would panic or say they can't accommodate, etc. Jeff and Chris bent over backward to get our event back on track. After a week at Hard Rock with sometimes less than hospitable interactions, the team at PLA stood out like a shining star to save the day. Hospitality like theirs is hard to come by these days and we are so thankful for everything they did to make us feel special. They didn't even know that our whole convention was filled with attendees who own and operate hotels and casinos- people who are peers with the Hard Rock leadership! We will not forget the stellar service. Thank...
