Red Star Live Tampa Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Florida

First person I met a blonde waitress as it was around 5:15 she was very nice as I was exploring the menu seeing if they had anything I was able to eat due to my mouth issues post radiation etc. she was nice friendly etc I never sat was standing up. She asked what I was planning to do, I replied dunno yet, maybe just fries as menu way over priced. I said I’ll sit at the bar and then decide. The place only had two men sitting at the bar. I sat down and pondered not sure about what to order for over twenty minutes. The other two men were having a canned beer each. Finally the dark haired gal behind the bar asked what I wanted to order as in food. So I ordered a basket of fries which took over 20 minutes then the gentlemen next to me ask the gal behind bar we have been waiting to order some food she apologized as they had been there far longer than me. They ordered the food. After 20 min I got this despicable over cooked mousing little bunch of fries that cost $4. Not even as much that’s in McDonald’s happy meal. Then 15 minutes later she brings another despicable basket. I’m perplexed??? She says since you ordered from us both I have to charge you for both this basket was more hideous and smaller than the first! I tried to eat then or what could. She never offered or brought any napkins or silverware stayed the the back with others and but he’d the other pours gal out. I was trying to mask this horrible soapy type taste with ketchup. Then after this Hispanic lady was screaming at other customers walking in for walking on part of her semi wet floor screaming to them at the top of her lungs “How rude you walked on my floor, EXCUSE YOU, et “ I’m like I’m getting the hell outta here so did the new customers who were screamed at. the gentlemen sitting beside me shortly after. I will never go back as soon as I got home the fries made me throw up and to my surprise there were actually soap bubbles which account for that awful taste I couldn’t figure out 😳 The behavior of the dark haired waitress to the poor blonde waitress was uncalled for so was the very obnoxious pissy Spanish lady yelling and chasing off patrons. UPDATED: We returned again for a second time last night. The food was delicious again ----- the server explained in detail the specials this time. And the food came out quite quickly. The atmosphere is so relaxing and enjoyable. We all had a great time and will continue to visit. Almost every patron that we spoke to said "this is our first time here and omg we love this place!" So forgive my rant below - it was more for my friends' review than me - but we will continue to come and enjoy. I'm going to give this 4 stars because I had a good time. We went on a Wednesday night. Not much of a crowd at all. It was open mic night and the talent was pretty good. I really enjoyed my tacos they were very delicious. It took about an hour for our food to arrive - which was fine because we were not in a hurry. The menu we were given stated that Wednesdays had a special on wings and "top shelf" whiskey. My guests ordered the wings and whiskey drinks. When the bill arrived they were not given the discounts for these items. When it was questioned they said the menu was "out of date" and they do not honor that discount anymore. (The menu is one page) Highly disappointed my guests questioned this again as they ordered Tullamore which, is high shelf. The bartender stated that their definition of "high shelf' is the bottles that are on the TOP SHELF! LOLOL Sorry but this is funny. The shelf they can't reach. Regardless - they should have honored that discount. They went ahead and gave a discount on the wings but - my guests would have never ordered liquor if there wasn't a special for the night. Please.... If you do not have access to a computer or printer, I will be happy to recreate your menu with your up-to-date specials and/or prices. Also, the server took my other friends' food away before he was finished eating it. He wanted to take the leftovers home. It's a shame the sound sucked so bad here, because the opening band I came to see was good from what I could tell. I hear the venue's sound person was late, and I guess not very good as there were issues throughout their performance. Stage was too dark; would have been nice to see the band a little bit. Nice to have the area in front to stand, dance, or whatever, and a few park bench style tables to sit at.

The wait for beer 1 was way too super long. I guess the bartenders aren't pressed to address customers because there was more than 1 at the small outside bar yet no service. All that to end up with a little cup of beer doubly sucked. Service for beer 2 & 3 was a lil better, that bartender was a lil more attentive. Not enough to make me ever come back. Esp. not for music because to get a drink you have to walk far away from the stage; out of sight, a building btwn, then out of listening range because other music is on near the bar.
