I couldn’t tell you how my stay was, but my bank account sure doesn’t reflect that I didn’t stay there. I had just gotten out of the hospital after emergency surgery (tricep muscle and tendon severed) I didn’t have my wallet on me, but I had my phone (and even though it’s not 100% acceptable proof, you can basically show who you are by having your phone I had no other choice so I went ahead and booked a room online, took a $28 Ridesharing service to the hotel (where I figured I could explain to them my dilemma and they would see that I had stitches and my arm was in a sling, still wearing the hospital bracelet and Let me just stay since I already paid and it wasn’t that busy) it was painfully obvious I was just ready to get some sleep. Well, I understand rules are rules. I was told in the lobby while the OWNER was standing right there that without an ID no-go. To which I immediately replied OK after ultimately being in tears pleading with the man to go upstairs to go to sleep to no avail. I Did have an email copy of my drivers license from my doctor office and he wasn’t hearing it and was I was forced to call and pay almost $70 to Get a ride to the closest friends house I could get to and made it blatantly clear there was nothing besides the email pic of my DL nor did I have access to my wallet Whatsoever and WOULDN’T be returning. While waiting for the SECOND rideshare service, I informed The owner that the charges were still reflecting on my card but insisted that there was nothing going to be charged to my card, just the website I booked w takes a few but will return very shortly. The next morning I noticed Well over half a dozen attempts by the HOTEL my debit card and they successfully managed to charge me $112 for a NO-SHOW! I was still livid at the fact that I wasted over $200 and still never got the room I so desperately sought. I also assumed it was gonna be a easy fix. The room was booked at approximately 8PM I was there within 45mins and canceled my reservation within mins after arriving. Before my departure I conveyed that this whole fiasco was over 25% of my $780 monthly disability check and imperative to my survival that it was refunded. The next morning the .com refunded me and I noticed well over half a dozen attempts from the HOTEL to run my debit card and they successfully managed to charge me $112 for a NO-SHOW FEE¿¡ After multiple failed attempts to contact the owner, I finally got through him an email explaining to him who I was and that there was zero grounds to be charged a no-show fee when I was looking him in the eye in his own lobby And canceled my REFUNDABLE reservation within minutes of my arrival. would love to be able to go after them legally if I could afford it, but I figure I’d appeal to my fellow consumers. There are plenty other choices in the Brandon area and The hotel was dead and BLATANTLY STOLE my money!! PLEASE do not give this place a single penny of your money and it’s a convenient place to stay and to be by the interstate but nowhere to stay if you’re visiting town. I repeatedly asked the owner to not make me take this route and he seemed to not care (shocker) so let’s show him how much a single bad review can hurt and make him feel this $112 he felt necessary to steal from me look like chump change! They are Thieves and I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to charge the heck out of people after they leave so if you like having your money stolen, this is the place for you but if you’re an upstanding citizen who knows how to conduct business like an adult, this is definitely not the place...
Read moreAlthough we've stayed at this hotel several times before, and have always been pleased, this past weekend's stay was an absolute nightmare.
We checked in late on Thursday evening, and requested a room in a quiet spot. We were given a room on the top floor, but no mention was made of the fact that the hotel's roof was scheduled to be torn off of the building beginning at 6:00 AM the following morning.
There is no way to describe the sounds that awakened us at the crack of dawn. Unless you've been in an echo chamber while large explosives were detonated next to you, you cannot imagine the volume and nature of the sounds that were coming from DIRECTLY ABOVE US. The building shook, everything in the room vibrated, and there was a visceral effect from the deafening volume of the sound that each of us could feel in his body.
Stumbling to the lobby with less than 3-hours of sleep, I demanded to know how on earth the hotel could book guests into rooms directly under a roof as it was being demolished-- with no warning or mention, mind you-- and the clerk was condescending, patronizing, snide, and unbearably arrogant.
Although I've stayed in countless hotels around the country, I've never before encountered such a callous disregard for guests' satisfaction, comfort, or safety. There was one clerk in particular who not only should be fired for her horrendous attitude, but who should somehow be banned from working in the hospitality industry for life.
The hotel moved us to the 2nd floor, and assured us that we wouldn't hear such unacceptable noise the following morning. They were wrong. We were again awakened, but this time because our windows ended up overlooking the dumpster into which huge roof chunks were thrown down from above.
On our final morning, day 3, it was Sunday, and blissfully, the work crews had the day off. We placed a Do Not Disturb sign on our door handle, and prayed for just one morning of actual sleep. Instead, the maid decided to ignore the sign, and banged and banged on our door until everyone was thoroughly awakened.
While there were a few staff members at the hotel who were courteous and sympathetic, and who attempted to be helpful, the majority of the staff (including the owner, who was of no use at all) are a disgrace and will serve to sully the reputation of Choice Hotels with every guest who is unfortunate enough to meet them.
Choice Hotels needs to address the horrible shortcomings at this facility, not only in terms of the physical plant, but especially in terms of the staff's gross incompetence and complete disregard for guest-satisfaction. We have never had a worse stay at any hotel in the...
Read morePLEASE PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING I DONT RECOMMEND. When I first got there I watched the women at the front desk who was very pleasant to me roll her eyes at another elderly guest who was trying to inform her that the third floor hallway smelled bad(read other reviews and it will say the same thing). Late at night my child went downstairs to sit in the lobby and had an argument with the staff member . When I came to see what the issue was he inform me that they got a lot of unwanted guest at night that are drunk or on drug that claim to stay in the hotel. He also put his hands on my 17 year old to try to remove him from the hotel. My child wasn’t doing anything but because he was sitting downstairs the man had an issue with that. They said it’s a curfew that anyone sitting in the lobby has to sit I front of the staff so that they can watch them. That morning I tried to discuss it with the other managers who said he was the owner later to found out his father is the owner( daddy privileges) he was very rude and I called the police on him. Although the police never came and just called me on my cell phone because they had other matters to attend to he also told me he wouldn’t recommend that hotel and he put his own mouth told me that they have to respond to that hotel for drunks and drug overdose but since there was no active crime going on then he would just suggest I call and make a complaint on the hotel. He also told me as Majid was listening that if my son had all rights to defend himself against the the staff member Kevin if that was his real name. The guy Majid was very rude and said YOU PEOPLE recommend calling the police but don’t want that when they come. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. I recommend any bad experience to write a review because Majid who suggest I didn’t call guest service inform me that Complaint to guest service is mess up the business. When if everyone make a complaint it will help this hotel become a better hotel because corporate will clean up. Those of you that had a pleasant stay that’s great but mines wasn’t GOOD AT ALL. Everyone that stays and don’t like it complain. I also recorded him speaking rudely to me and this is what he wrote on paper then copied it. I stayed at the other comfort suit and it was amazing in...
