I went there with my son on Saturday morning. We went to order drinks and the waitress said no because if you order breakfast comes with the drinks. (My son ordered a juice). Once the drinks came we started placing and order (eggs & one side) she told my son that he had to order a meat (he picked scrambled eggs + potatoes ) because if not she would pick it. Then I asked for fried eggs and bacon. She said I had to order a potato. I said no thanks I don't eat potato. She said fine but she'll charge us anyway. Then she tells us me I'll bring out the other cafe con leche (I already had one). I ask her for what I only need one and my son had juice. She says well if you don't want to give it to your son. I said he is 10 & he has juice. She got mad and well then take it to go. I told her that if was a problem to charge me each items separate because we don't want the extra food she is trying to add. She refused. My son by this time says he doesn't want to eat here anymore because she was mean and making us get extra food saying she was going to charge us anyway. I asked her to please just cancel my order and charge my drinks (which we still have not touched.) She refuses. I hand over my CC and she refuses again. Then she says fine if you know can't pay for the extra food then I'll do you the favor of paying it for you. I told her she wasn't doing me any favors because I was asking her to charge me for what we wanted even if it was not on special i would pay for it but she can't make us order extra food and drinks. I asked her again to charge me for my drinks that I didn't want to eat there anymore and she said no and walked away. So I left... I am sorry for doing that and if you wish I will go back and pay for those drinks but I have NEVER been so insulted at a restaurant...
Read moreThe experience today at this place was HORRENDOUS. This place has deteriorated so much. The vaca frita was not shredded but it was huge boiled chunks of chicken with no seasoning, that tasted like boiled cardboard. It had a weird orange color and pieces of the skin that were soggy and slimy. The whole thing looked like a plate of vomit. All the food was cold and the the ripe plantains were burned on the outside and raw on the inside. Service was slow and deficient although the place was (not surprisingly) empty. I complained to the manager whose name is Michael and he was totally unreceptive and gave one excuse after the other about their food. Not even slightly apologetic or receptive. He kept stating me down and giving me these dirty looks afterwards (childish behavior) until I left the place. Mind you, I am an elderly lady. This used to be a nice place with good home cooked meals. Not any more. It is terrible. This Michael guy should not be working with people much less be a manager anywhere. I wonder if the owner knows how terrible it is there. I will never set foot in that place again and will make sure to tell everyone I...
Read moreI ventured into this supposed "Miami's Favorite Cuban Restaurant" with a hopeful heart. The place was eerily quiet, save for the staff. No music, no TV, just an unsettling silence. The restroom was a sorry sight - paper towel-less and sporting a toilet seat that seemed to be contemplating a daring escape. Smudged windows added to the overall ambiance of neglect.
The menu, though, promised simple breakfast fare at a price that raised an eyebrow. Despite the less-than-inviting surroundings, the server was a ray of sunshine. I had my heart set on a classic: two eggs, bacon, and a side of grits. But just as I was about to savor my first sip of coffee, a culinary catastrophe unfolded. No grits? No estimated wait time? The offered alternatives of fries or hashbrowns were a non-starter.
Gritless, I departed, my hunger pangs growing louder with each step. It's a shame, really. I had high hopes for this place. But sometimes, even the most promising of restaurants...
