Decided to try this since tourist season is over and the locals can actually eat out without a crowd. I’m sure this place is fun when it’s busy but my husband and I aren’t really bar type people. There were 2 tables in the whole restaurant and the host sat us right in the middle of the 2. I wasn’t going to bother mentioning it but I think that if a couple comes in that maybe they should sit them a little further from families so they could have a more privacy. The waitress was very sweet. We ordered unsweet teas. Once we had sips we knew something was off. I told her that the tea has a weird taste, she said yea that people have said that before, that they don’t make it, and it comes from their machine. It tastes like bean water or like you were drinking it out of a cardboard container. I’m not sure what the issue is because I know water on the beach always tastes weird, but I would suggest that they do something about the tea because we’re in the south! I asked which would she suggest between carnitas and carne asada and she said for sure the carne asada. My husband got the trio fajitas. He decided to get flour tortillas instead of his usual corn because he figured they wouldn’t be how he typically likes his corn tortillas. We ordered cheese dip, which is definitely not like traditional Mexican restaurants… it was ok but not the best. We also ordered a drink called the Reggae Beat, which was really good. It tasted almost like a frozen Coke with melon. While we were eating the fire alarm went off and the fire department was there. We overheard the waitress tell the other table that the grill is too hot and they put too much oil, and that it happens all the time. A little bit later we got our food. I expected the carne asada to be a full steak it was only steak strips that looked exactly like my husband’s fajita. The meat was burnt, tough in places, chewy, and not hot. My husband’s trio fajita wasn’t hot either. The meat tasted like it was precooked and not made to order. To be that slow the food should have been piping hot. Most of his flour tortillas were too hard, he ordered them because he thought they’d be soft. The rice wasn’t fully cooked, but the beans were good. Tbh we didn’t say anything because the waitress was busy doing a bunch of other stuff and then got a party table, unfortunately didn’t come back till after our plates were gone. I was going to ask her if the burnt steak was normal for them because I just wouldn’t order it again. But I didn’t have my plate to show her so I just dropped it. This review is nothing bad towards her, she was very sweet and I’m sure she rocks when it’s busy. We were never asked how everything was otherwise I would have told them. The only two things that were really good was the beans and the alcoholic drink. We paid round $86. We most likely won’t go back, because the food tastes basically like a lower version of Chili’s but more expensive. I’m sure they will do well because of tourist though because it’s gitchy and they specialize in the bar/music scene. DJ played great music. The floor is extremely slippery.. maybe with the humidity. I state all this to hopefully give management some feedback. If anyone is looking for an actual good Mexican restaurant around the area go to Taco Rocks, but if you want the club nightlife go to...
Read morePretty fun place, especially if it is your type of thing. When we first got here, my husband and I, we were seated where we were asked to as much as was possible, which was where it would be a little less loud (I am autistic so it can be difficult to cope with). It is a loud place, either with loud music or a very talented DJ, but it is definitely NOT kid-friendly DJ music. The music is uncensored and filthy, if you like that sort of thing, adults-only for sure. Also, some imagery in some areas and what is allowed to be advertized here is not kid-friendly either.
I ordered a pina colada, it was very good and not too strong. I came on an empty stomach and drank about 1/6th of it before food came. We got queso, asked for the pico on the side, which it was not when it got to the table, but my husband likes it, so he just scooped it out and I went around. No big deal.
The mango mahi mahi was very good! 10/10! Peppers were good, rice was (not Japanese but) good (passable for non-Japanese rice) mango was good, the fish was not overcooked and it tasted like fish, which is better than I can say for the Grand Marlin when we went!
My husband got a spicy chicken sandwich which I did not try, but he said it tasted like vinegar chicken. The bread was the best part of the sandwich and it was not very hot (but he has a high tolerance, too, so take that with a grain of salt). He liked the potatoes the most. He'd rate his meal a 2 or 3/10. His water was never refilled, which was not dire THIS time, because we had two on the table to begin with (I didn't drink mine).
There's cool lights, there's beach access and a pretty view, the inside/outside divide is open and there are speakers anyway, so you're not likely to miss out on good tunes (if it is your kinda tunes) no matter where you prefer to sit and eat. They have a bar, and I've been told they have the best margaritas in Pensacola. Truly, the pina colada was good
Read moreI’ve never written a restaurant review in my life but my experience yesterday warrants one. I was left asking myself how a restaurant could get literally everything wrong. I rode my motorcycle and met my wife and daughter there and, since I was able to find parking more quickly on my bike (expected), I was the first to arrive. I walked in and let them know I had two more on the way and they told me it would be a 10 minute wait. No worries, I took a seat, waited a bit and was led to a table.
Still waiting on my wife and daughter at this point (again expected but plays in shortly) I was left staring at an empty table for about 5 minutes before a waitress finally arrives and asks, “oh, do you need a physical menu?” I was a little confused by the question because there was no indication that there was anything other than “physical” menus available anywhere I could see, but responded yes please.
Another 3 to 5 minutes later I get a menu and order a drink. The waitress brings the drink and plops it on the table moving on before I could ask to order an appetizer. About this time my wife and daughter make it to the table where we’re left passing around one menu (terribly organized too) before my wife finally decides to walk to the front and ask for a couple more. Instead of just handing her a couple, they make us wait another five minutes before bringing them to the table. Upon their receipt we were finally able to order an appetizer, $11 for 11 pretzel bites, which were suspiciously similar to those found in Walmart for $3, and a cup of cheese. This became a theme.
We finally now have enough menus for everyone to order but it takes 20 minutes minimum for us to be able place our order, then longer still to receive our food. I got the steak fajitas, $23 for tough and bland steak, the worst beans and rice I’ve ever eaten and the only flavor coming from grilled onions and peppers. My wife got the enchiladas, the only good thing at the table but same experience with the rice and beans, terrible. My daughter got the Carnitas sandwich which was inedible. I mean gross. It was unsalted, unseasoned, boiled pulled pork on top of canned refried beans. Supposed to be braised but clearly not. The fresh jalapeños, were clearly jalapeño rings from a jar. Then came time to pay… and time went on, and on, and on…. It took forever just to get a takeout box and we all just desperately wanted to leave so we could escape the teenbop playlist being blasted at 1000 decibels! Honestly, I’m a good tipper… $25 plus generally. That’s the first $5 tip I’ve given ever and I felt bad about giving anything at all.
Absolutely terrible experience and we’ll never be returning. I wish I could get a refund. I feel like...
