I have been to several sickies locations. I have been here at his location three times. When I first came here to try sickies, I was instantly drawn to their "Glazed Doughnut Burger," and the first time i got it, it was amazing, lots of icing and just all-around yummness
So, a week or so later, after my first time. I came again. I once again ordered the doughnut burger. When the food came out, the burger barely had an icing on it. I was a bit disappointed because the first time I had it, it was coated and oozing with icing. This time, it looked like an old stale doughnut, i couldn't really see any icing on it at all. It just didn't look right. I asked the waitor if I could please get some more icing, and I'd be happy to pay an extra fee for it, if needed. He comes back and tells me the cooks said they only made a little icing today and don't want to make any more, but he would see what could be done. He comes back and says it might be a little bit, but they are making me some icing. I was happy to hear they were willing, and I didn't have to order something different, which i would have if I had to. Because a doughnut that has no icing isn't a doughnut, and I'm not paying $14.99 for a glazed doughnut burger that isn't glaced....
The third time, I came here with family, maybe a month later. Like the past two times, I got the doughnut burger. In my opinion, their food isn't good except their appetizers and the doughnut burger.
Well, I don't know if they recognized me from the last two times, but this time, I got denied the doughnut burger after the waittress took our order to the kitchen. She comes back and tells me that, unfortunately, the doughtnut burger isn't available because the cooks "didn't have any icing and didn't want to make the icing" for the burger. So I couldn't get it, I tried something else, and that burger was gross 🙃.
It's ridiculous to refuse a customer a burger on your menu because your cooks dont want to make the icing or never make enough in the first place. Then WHY is it even on your menu!?? I understand it's not the most popular burger, but come on... also, we came in around 6pm-8pm with the family.
My sister in law tried the spicy peach burger, which on the menu is claimed to be a "sweet n sour" type of sauce. She even asked if it was actually spicy (she can't handle spice). She was told it's not spicy, that it's like having a type of sweet n sour heat like a sweet thai chili.
That was NOT the case. She took one bite and couldn't even finish the bite. She was born with what's called a geographic tongue, and it instantly broke her tongue and mouth out. Due to that happening, she wasn't going to be able to eat due to the pain of her mouth. Me and my hubby even took a bite of it. Now, it was even too spicy for my husband, and he loves to eat ghost peppers... so that's saying something. I personally found the spice EXTREMELY overwhelming, and the peach flavor was nasty and not complimentary at all for the type of burger it was... (which was basically "sweet n spicy peach glazed bbq" tossed on a burger with toppings...)
I have tried other sickies locations, and they all suck. Their food mainly. Unless you get their appetizers or doughnut burger (if the cooks are not lazy to make the icing).
I'm highly disappointed. Unfortunately, we will never return to any of the...
Read moreUPDATE: We came back for a 2nd time in a week - there are so many interesting burgers/sandwiches to try! I was going to do a 2nd review, but I guess the only thing I can do is edit the one review. The results of my second visit are at the bottom.
FIRST REVIEW We had a Monte Cristo sandwich and Garage Burger with tots and sweet potato fries. All of the food was delicious. The one point of improvement is with the Monte Cristo. It was just a tad too dry because it had been fried just a little too long. A little less time in the oil and it would have been perfect.
SECOND REVIEW This time, we tried the Jalapeno Peanut Butter burger and the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich. For sides, we tried the mac 'n cheese and Jalapeno Cream Corn. A last minute impulse added Caramel Apple Nachos for dessert.
Everything was great. Fresh ingredients. Tasty. The star of the show for both of us was the dessert nachos. Fried flour tortilla pieces covered in sugar, cinnamon, apple pie filling and ice cream. What's not to like! And very reasonable at $5! Next was the Peanut Butter burger. I've heard of peanut butter on a burger before but never tried it until now. It was very tasty and something I will be trying again. You can try what we did and add the jalapeno jam for that PB&J twist. The Jalapeno Cream Corn was another tasty hit. It is definitely worth the $3 upcharge to give it a try. The Hot Honey Chicken sandwich was tasty. The chicken breast was THICK and juicy. The flavor of the Hot Honey just wasn't popular with us. While not bad, there are too many other flavors to enjoy. Last was the mac 'n cheese. I love a good mac n cheese and will gladly pay extra for a unique or well made mac n cheese. This is more on the lower end of mac n cheeses (closer to Kraft in the box). This is fine for a kid or someone who just HAS to have mac n cheese; but, we'll pass, especially with a $4 upcharge. Overall, another very successful visit with new favorites found. We are already planning what to try the next...
Read moreWe arrived early evening 3 July for dinner. The restaurant was not busy. No one was at the hostess stand when we walked in so I wondered around through the merchandise area so someone would see us. We were finally greeted & taken immediately to a large booth. The booth was very comfortable. We needed a few minutes to figure out our order. The server was very prompt in getting our beverages. I told the server it was our time twins’ birthday. We eat a sickies every summer for their birthdays so we are accustomed to them receiving a birthday shake. Once we ordered we were very impressed with how quick our order was prepared. It was less than 10 minutes wait. Great because we were starving & they were not busy yet for the evening. I recieved my plate last with our server saying there was “a little problem” with my order in particular. I had ordered the “figgy” burger. Rather than letting me know they were out of the fig sauce that makes it the “figgy” burger they brought me a bacon burger with peach jam. I was offered something else but had no desire to order an entirely new meal when everyone else had a correct order & it was hot. So I reluctantly agreed to eat an incorrect burger order. The burger was rather plain, no real flavor. The peach jam was awful. The only thing that made it taste good was the bacon. I found it unprofessional to bring a wrong order rather than let me know right away so I could’ve made a different choice. They did not offer to bring out anything for our twins birthday so I asked if they did anything special for their birthdays & they replied “well I guess we can get you milkshakes.” One kid agreed to get a shake. One preferred to not get a shake. The milkshake was delicious. Everyone other than me enjoyed their dinner. We were happy they provided a military discount. I would recommend each staff member be trained on how to handle this differently from now on. A customer should not be put in...
