Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Florida

Nah this place pissed me off today. I worked drive thru for a few years, I know how it is. I didn’t particularly like my job, especially the customers I had to deal with but lemme tell you something. Today I worked 12 hours and had some errands after work to do, I was really hungry and just wanted something quick. I put my order in on the app and it said it would take 5 minutes to make, 5 minutes go by and it’s not ready yet, no big deal. The screen updates a couple min later telling me someone will be bringing out my order as it’s finished. I sit there another 25 minutes, which I wouldn’t have cared about if they were busy, but there was ONE other car there aside from me. I sat there for thirty minutes waiting for some damn food when I’m tired as hell. I went inside and told them I’ve been waiting for thirty minutes and everybody in there is joking and having a good time. I thought “hm, maybe some equipment is down, maybe they got a HUGE order in, maybe they’re changing the oil for the fryers, maybe there’s a team meeting going on”, nope. Everyone just laughing having a good time, and when I let them know I’ve been waiting for a while, they just go and grab my food and hand it to me. Why was I sitting there waiting for 30 minutes? For what? My food was ready to go. I’m tired of poinciana and the lack of care everyone seems to have around here. If you don’t have bills to pay, if you have a safety net and you just don’t care about your job then quit. That or grow up, be an adult, take pride in your work no matter how shitty it is, and be the better person. Stop taking out your personal grievances out on people who never did anything to you, it’s not my fault you work there.

And you know the craziest part? I left a tip when I put my order in. I wish I could revoke it. I don’t need a refund, I don’t need my money back, but they definitely don’t need or deserve a tip.

I had not been to a Sonic probably in over 10 years. This visit was purely out of convenience, but I'm glad I stopped in.

The chili cheese coney dog was PERFECT. I also had a grilled cheese. I've got to say they've stepped their game up on the grilled cheese in recent years. Every time I used to get them, they were never toasted enough. This one was thoroughly toasted on both sides, so no soginess at all to that nice thick Texas toast.

Soft drink was fine (Gotta love that Sonic Ice). The only thing I had a problem with food-wise was the fries. I usually skip fries but I decided to try a value meal today. While seasoned great, they just had that old fryer oil taste. A fresh change of oil in the fryer would make all the difference in the world I believe.

The only other thing I would like to see.. is being able to pay right at the drive up board, rather than having the attendant take your card inside and then come back with it later.

It was our first time trying to eat at Sonic in Poinciana, and the experience was incredibly disappointing. We waited patiently for over 30 minutes and were never served.

We first arrived at the drive-thru around 10:00 p.m., and someone spoke to us through the intercom—but then they went completely silent and never responded again. So we tried ordering at one of the stalls, and they told us we needed to go back to the drive-thru.

We returned to the drive-thru, and this time they told us to go to the window. But at the window, they were busy serving another car and simply ignored us completely.

After all this back-and-forth and wasted time, we left without anyone ever taking our order. We were frustrated and disappointed. It’s a shame that a place that looks fun can have such poor customer service.
