I’ve never written a review but the disappointment, frustration, disgust I’ve had with the pies I’ve ordered a couple nights ago and from the last couple of months have led me to do so.
Having lived in the West Kendall, Lago Mar area on and off for the better of what will be 30 years in a couple months. I remember the days when I would without hesitation always recommend Steve’s Pizza (the spot next to Sedano’s) for a good NY style slice or pie. It was the closest to NY style pizza I had ever had in the West Kendall area aside from Mike’s and Dan Marino’s but by far was the best in the area. I wish I could remember the gentleman pizza maker’s name from years ago. A hispanic older man that always made conversation while I waited for my pizza to be made. I loved those pies. My last takeout order was the final chance from a couple other visits in the last months. I will never eat here again. It sucks because I loved this place so much. It was a staple for this area. If management change was the cause or change of pizza makers / pizza recipe, it’s a shame. You tossed any integrity this place held with me in the trash.
The last pies I’ve eaten here were the worst I’ve ever had and this includes eating abroad. The dough, the dough, the dough….tasting of something other than dough. Undercooked, as soft as a pillow, and whiter than rice. It was unbelievable. This is every time in the last months. Not just one time. Each time i’d say to myself “maybe the air fryer or oven can crunch it up and make it worth eating?”. I was wrong, it only made it worse. The sauce and cheese reminded me of the pizza i’d eat at hot wheels / thunder wheels back in the 90’s (a local roller skating rink). I couldn’t understand how I paid $11 for a small pie that wasn’t even on par with the crap from the pizza chains. At least they charge $6.99 for a large one topping box of generic pizza but STEVE’S giving me this for $11?!?! Man i was dumbfounded. I couldn’t care less about the money I spent each time I went back to give Steve’s another shot but I did care when I was left disappointed each and every time.
The recipe, quality of the ingredients used for the pizza and maybe even the technique to make and cook them have changed. Reading other recent comments I’m not the only one with this sentiment. I will never wish a business bad especially one in the food industry (as I have owned and operated within it myself) and especially a local business that I have supported and frequented for the better of my last 20-25 years. I only hope management at Steve’s takes my review and considers to reconsider adjusting their pizza. Until then, I will never return.
In addition, their customer service has always been great. Ladies & gents over the years answering my order calls and giving me my order when arriving have always...
Read moreI really wanted a meatball grinder, sub to others, I noticed this pizza place, and I was in luck it had a Greek appearing menu. The meatballs were okay and definitely not frozen, I feel like they were homemade but didn't seem baked. They seemed steamed. They were tasty, but I'm partial to this place in Western Massachusetts, but seriously, I would return again. I'm not sure why there was no sauce on it and will definitely ask for that the next time. I ordered the whole grinder, sub, and I'm glad I did so that I could take the other half home with me for my supper last night. I'm glad I asked for peppers and onions because it would have been a bit plain without them. The waitress brought cheese and pepper flakes and offered oregano and possibly one other shake on as well. My coffee was delicious, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was calm and looked like it had never been updated since opening, and I loved that. The prices for the subs were very good, but other prices were a bit higher than I would have expected. The restaurant was very clean and the restroom was also very clean. I would definitely go again sometime and I would suggest you try it. I don't think you would be...
Read moreFood is amazing! Trust me I am Sicilian. I have been ordering here for years. But, tonight I ordered a Calzone with pepperoni and ham along with 2 subs which are amazing. It got delivered and i live 10 minutes away. Food came hot and fresh in like 20 minutes but they gave me a pizza with ham and pepperoni instead. The subs were perfect BTW. I CALLED them back and they said yes you ordered a Calzone. We can deliver it now but want our Pizza back. Lol. They insisted. I was kinda like wow. They should have let us keep the Pizza. They charged me 7.00 for delivery plus I tipped the driver $10.00. This is bad buisness. Anyway, the calzone came. It was amazing BTW. But I still had to give the Pizza back. Not cool at all. My wntire family was waiting to eat. Anyway, this was a bad business decision by Steve's. Even the manager called me back and asked that I give at least half the pizza back. Lol. Meaning, we could eat half. But we did not out of spite. We support family and local business but you all need to think and act accordingly. Mikes Pizza would have never done something like this. Poor management...
