Went here with my mother for lunch today. This is the first time in 1 year that we have gotten out to eat in public since the pandemic, and wanted somewhere that we could eat outside, away from other people. Found Sushi Yama had seating outdoors, so decided to give it a try. There were only 2 other ladies eating outside, and no one inside. We were so disappointed in the service. The food was good, but the waitress was not friendly and quite a disappointment. I do not eat raw fish and therefore asked the waitress about substituting the raw items on the lunch menu to all California Rolls, and she would not do it. I ended up having to order everything separately in order to not eat raw fish. First off, got a dirty fork, asked for another one, secondly I opened my napkin to find someone's hair in it, yuck! I drank all of my water and had to get up and stick my head in the door and ask the guy making the food if someone could bring me more water. He called over to the waitress, and I told him thank you. I waited and no one came. After about 10 minutes, she finally came out, but not to bring me water, but to go and clean the table where the other ladies had eaten. I then again asked her if she could bring me water. She was not too worried about me and my water and finished cleaning the table. She took everything inside, then finally came out and refilled my water. The waitress in itself, was the whole reason why our lunch turned out to not be so great. I do not believe I will ever go back to this place. I have read other reviews where people have commented on a female waitress, and it sounds like to me this is a common occurrence and they need to figure out who this waitress is and...
Read moreI wish I had read these reviews before going to Sushi Yama again. The first time I went I enjoyed it, the second time far less so. The third time I felt ripped off. I got a takeout menu went away for an hour to decide what to have, I went back in and ordered 2 items. When they arrived, very quickly I might add, it came with the check, however the check was higher than the price on the menu by a few dollars, so I queried it? I was told some of the items on the menu were out of date, I said I only got it an hour ago how can it be out of date? I was told they are waiting for the menu to be updated, so I said if they are wrong throw them out and you won't be misleading customers. UNBELIEVABLY I was told the menus cost a dollar each so they can't throw them out!!!! They insisted I pay the inflated price not the advertised price, I refused, saying I will pay what the menu says not some addition they just made up. There are nearly 200 items on the menu isn't funny that the only 2 I ordered were both supposedly higher. How many people have been ripped off since the "menus have been out of date?" Again I offered to pay for what I have ordered but not at the higher price, and if they don't give me the advertised price I will not pay for it all. They refused again so I demanded my money back. Looking back at the reviews its clear that this place has issues, I would avoid it like the plague.Looking back at the speed at which the food came out of the back I doubt very much it was made fresh but was sitting in a fridge somewhere. Disgusting maybe the Better Business Bureau and the health inspectors need to...
Read moreI believe I've written 3 reviews in all the years I've been dining out. However, this restaurant warranted a 4th. I ordered about $60 worth of to-go food for my fiancé and I. When it was brought over, there was an extremely long hair hanging out of our coconut shrimp box. I said very politely "may we get another coconut shrimp? There is a hair hanging out of it." She took it back and brought out the owner, whom was now holding the box. He shouted to me "where is the hair???!!' I don't see a hair??? Why do you want a new one? This is my business!!". Immediately I stood up, and signaled for my fiancé to leave, and said "ok, we will just leave. All I asked was to bring us a replacement.. I didn't ask for it to be taken off the bill, or that I wanted anything free, etc. I literally just asked for a replacement on one of the several dishes I had ordered. As I stood up, the waitress who had taken our order, pushed my fiancé, while the owner similatenously pushed me and told us "to pay because this is his business and there is no hair on it anymore". My fiancé and I walked out. I have never in my life experienced anything like that, and I consider myself a frequent patron at restaurants. I'm truly blown away by the experience, and would honestly go to bed hungry than ever return to such a terrible...
