Really extraordinary Latin food made Puerto Rican style. Look forward to your favorites like mofongo con camerones or masas de cerdo, acapuria of both yuca and guineao, croquetas de jamon, and so much more, including a nice selection of sandwich choices on super fresh bread.
The desserts are out of this world with biscocho (cake) that sets the world record for perfect moistness and filled beautifully with fruit and almond and dulces de leche and chocolate choices.
The baked pastries are light and airy, just as you dream about finding, and finally have.
On our visit we had the pleasure of being served by Melissa and Claudia, who provided the best possible service, even though it's basically a counter-service kind of place. Very attentive to asking us if we wished anything else or providing whatever little things made our dining experience easier.
Everything was cooked perfectly and nothing was overdone or underdone, which is really an art form when you're making something delicate like acapurias, and even something more hearty like mofongo.
Everything good you've ever heard about Taino's is absolutely true. I can't believe I waited so long to get here, but I'll be back within a week or so, even just stop in and pick up a few little gems of bakery, and probably cheat on my diet with some empanadas or acapurias de guineao.
Looks like they have a great pre-order situation with quick pickup, so that makes it a nice morning stop.
Thanks again to Melissa and Claudia for making our experience wonderful, and definitely five-star food, all the way, across the broad swath of the menu we sampled on this first visit. (Actually, we just over-ordered by getting a bunch of everything, but that's okay for the leftover situation, LOL.)
Enjoy Taino's soon, cause even the 2-year-old says it's absolutely fabulous, and he's picky. And in this case,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy 3rd visit, and last. Main reason is how dirty the place is. It was 12:30pm on a Sunday. There were maybe 3 tables with customers when I arrived and 2 ordering ahead of me. So not crazy busy.
I ordered on their screen since nobody wasbat the counter acknowledging customers, just 2 employees working orders. The breakfast sandwich I ordered (egg, ham, and cheese) was ok but not great. It didnt have enough cheese for both sides of the sandwich and despite choosing cheddar cheese, I got American cheese. I had asked for cane sugar for my cappuccino; when they gave it to me I asked "sugar already in it right", answer was no. (Service??)
The floor had food and utensils all over, the empty tables did not appear clean so I sat on the counter, it had crumbs as well. For some odd reason they have the trash bin at the farthest point from the door, next to where you collect your napkins, utensils, and condiments. The whole counter is a mess and there is trash on the floor. On my way out I noticed how utterly dirty the glass doors are. Not a good look for to a food place. Makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like.
I paid AND tipped upfront, and then left...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe usually love Taino's. Our usual place is the one over on Lake Underhill. However, we were close to the one on Goldenrod so we decided to stop there. The place was empty, only a few patrons eating their breakfast, no line. We went up to the employee to give our order and she asked cash or card? We said card, then she pointed us to the machines and said she could NOT help us if we aren't paying cash. We would have to use the machines and if we needed help, to call out for her. We tried to find what we were looking for, with no success as it wasn't listed as the menu on the wall. We tried to get her attention, but she went to the back and didn't come out. I understand that technology is advancing and it makes things a bit more efficient. However, when you're in the service industry, you provide SERVICE.
Needless to say, we will not be visiting this location again. The employee was not helpful and was more interested in avoiding customers than helping them. Really disappointed as their other location is GREAT! Avoid the one...
