Waffle House — Restaurant in Florida

Got lunch with a couple of friends here and overall had a good experience. We sat at the bar. Food was fast and delicious, our waitress (Heather) was amazing. Very attentive, kind, efficient, and checked in with us a perfect amount of times. She was an angel. 10/10 great employee.

However, the reason for the 2 start review is solely because of one of the workers named Melissa. The entire time we were here, she was incredibly rude to her coworkers (including Heather) and was slamming dishes constantly. Every time Heather checked in on us, Melissa would make a snarky or rude comment to Heather. This happened on multiple occasions. When Heather brought us a freshly cleaned off bottle of syrup, Melissa snapped at her for “getting in her way” while she was trying to slam more dishes down. When my husband finished his orange juice, Heather (who was just being an attentive, amazing waitress) asked him if he wanted a water, to which Melissa then snapped at her for asking that because Heather had asked us at the beginning if we all wanted waters. Heather was literally just being polite and attentive, and my husband could have changed his mind from earlier and decided he wanted a water, and she got yelled at for doing a great job taking care of her customers. My husband actually DID want a water but told her no because he was afraid of her getting yelled at again by Melissa and did not want to be the reason she got verbally abused again.

This is absolutely unacceptable behavior. If you look at past reviews, you can see another describing this exact slamming and attitude a year ago from Melissa. Heather was an angel and didn’t acknowledge or respond to this behavior, but it really ruined the experience to see someone with the word “friendly” on their tag being so incredibly rude to a coworker for doing her job. I would like to report the poor service I received at your store at VIllage Market store #650 this evening. I wanted to place a to go order in person between 11-1120 pm. The store while fairly busy still had open tables and no one waiting in line. There were by my count 3 servers and 2 cooks on staff unless there were more in the back. I spoke with Madison and informed here I wanted to place a togo order. She told me they weren't taking to go orders but a could sit at a table and eat and pointed to an empty table. I was a bit taken aback by this answer. I have been going to this waffle house for 15 years and have never had this happen.

They were not understaffed nor overly busy especially if i could just grab a table. I tried to politely explain to her the silliness of this request as I could just sit down wait for my order then ask for a box. Wasting plates, time and taking up a table. When explained that she said I couldn't do that necessarily.

I have seen this location so busy at times that there are crowds of people standing outside and barely room to walk inside and they still took to go orders. I am not sure what happened tonight but it needs to be corrected. If there are readily available tables for me to sit down I should not be refused to go service.

What boggles my mind is that there was no thought to even find out if I was willing to wait or even and explanation of what was the reason why. She just walked away. Even a triage method would have been better a "hey we are really behind are do you have a big order or is it just you?" If an investigation was done she would have found that it was just me ordering one dish for myself. I do not understand the thought...

Hi all, So i just had to come on here to write this because it is well deserved and she needs to be seen. Me (Kaylee) and my boyfriend (Chris) have recently going to waffle house together and we both order the same thing every time, we normally go at night and there was one time we went in the daytime. The one time we went during the day we had a very nice server her name was Alivia like Olivia but with an a..... anyways she has always been pretty nice very attentive and fast! but since then we have been going at night like, a lot... and tonight was pretty cool i walked in there with Chris, we grabbed a seat as soon as we walked in and i made my way to their jukebox thingy put a dollar in while i was doing that she came over and started asking for our drinks. while I'm standing next to the jukebox thing and she put two dollars in and i asked her what music she likes she told me and i played a bunch of things. as all this was going on she was taking our order that me and my boyfriend get literally every-time we have gone and she pointed that out which is fine we all laughed about it but yeah there was more to it but she is so funny and attentive and very fast working, and gives me the most kind compliments ever. She even remembers our order! not like its hard to forget, pretty easy lol. i tipped her $10 tonight I should have tipped more, she deserves a raise waffle house give her a raise, she is a good server probably your best server in the area to be honest.
