Underdogs Burgers & Brews — Restaurant in Flower Mound

Forget Lambeaus, Underdogs is Flower Mound’s newest family-friendly eatery + sports bar. We visited on Saturday night and the place was hoppin’, with plenty of folks enjoying the music & games inside, as well as a great cover band outside on the patio. We also loved the indoor/outdoor dining, with easy access to the patio and a nice breeze coming in off the water. We started with the pimento cheese balls and the lemon pepper wings, both of which were great. The wings were outstanding, large, meaty, and cooked to crispy perfection, putting Wingstop & Buffalo Wild Wings to shame. The much-raved about burgers did not disappoint, our favorites being Blue Cheese and Southern Hospitality. When you visit ask to sit in Tiffany’s section, she’s probably the best server in town and took great care of our group all night. Last but not least, the cocktail menu is expansive and better than most sports bars, offering everything from cosmos & espresso martinis to Paloma’s and a quality old fashioned. Jason is the general manager and he’s put together a great team & excellent menu, surely giving Underdogs a long-lasting spot on the Flower Mound river walk. Wow! A totally awesome crispy mallard effect on the Burger Pattie’s with fresh, crisp vegetables! 10/10 for a smash type burger! Stupid delicious bun held up to the big burger challenge- awesome! Waffle sweet potato fries, ‘eh. Overcooked dry and barely room temperature.

Flo Mo Bahn Mi, oh Lordy, the name does not fit the sandwich at all. Kind of a vinegary, sweet BBQ sauce and barely a hint of vegetables. Totally missing the freshness from the crispy pickled veggies with cilantro brightness, ends up as a lot of roll with little substance and nothing compared to a real Vietnamese influenced bright sandwich. Regular fries with that, they were limp, held a lot of grease and room temp.

Servers were impeccable. I’m a foodie, past restaurant experienced person, we know how to politely send things back, but had limited time together there.

It was Rangers opening day and the noise level was deafening.

Because the burger was so incredible, I’ll give it another shot, for sure.

Please tighten up on fry volume and temperature, we’d gladly wait longer for your best presentation, we know the ability is there.

I am very disappointed eating dinner here tonight. This was my second time back. The first time it was amazing with excellent food and service. Tonight was a different story. The hamburger and fries or lukewarm and wasn’t as good as the first time. Then my waitress charged me for a little dab of ranch for my fries. The waitress I had the first time offered me ranch and there was no charge. I questioned the waitress about it tonight and she said they’re supposed to charge a customer if they ask for ranch. So I guess if the waitress offers it first there is no charge. Then my waitress said she would take it off. As she is asking another waiter how to take off the extra charge she is looking over my way laughing. When she came back with my credit card she charged me an extra fee for using my bank card. This is so not right. There should be something showing the customer that there is an extra charge for using a credit card.
