TAIKO SUSHI IS TOP NOTCH

Our family gathered together in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. As dinnertime approached, we thought it would be great to have a sushi dinner and started searching for a Japanese restaurant that was open and able to accommodate our party of seven adults on such short notice. Finally found space available at Taiko Sushi and made our way there.

After we arrived, we felt the service was slow; our server let us know one of their chefs had a baby earlier in the day so they were understandably short-staffed. Our orders were going to take at least half an hour longer than usual as a result. Despite this delay, we still felt lucky to find a place to accommodate all of us during a major holiday and thanked our server for being so transparent with us.

The staff went completely out of their way while we waited. We were offered miso soup, bluefin tuna sashimi along with other wonderful dishes along with beer and sake, all on the house. Chef Bell, one of the owners, introduced himself and was especially gracious and generous with our party. The time flew by and when our food arrived it was absolutely delicious.

My wife and I recently came to Taiko Sushi for the first time for a semi-date early dinner. The decor was nice and the staff seemed pleasant. Since we came during Happy Hour, there were multiple deals we were able to take part in. Our Bento boxes were buy one get one half off, so that was very nice. I was also able to get a nice $2 draft beer. The dinner-time bento were fairly decent in quantity of food, though my wife's teriyaki salmon was a tad on the small side. Sadly, the salad used an odd runny ranch-style dressing instead of the sweet Japanese style I am accustomed too. They did provide a large bowl of white rice to each of us, as well as a great supply of dipping sauce for our tempura. Everything tasted great (minus the salad) and was an enjoyable experience overall. I was also very pleased their California Roll had the imitation crab instead of that ground up crab mix. It's the little things. I will certainly be back to try their sushi options.

Good sushi, I have always gotten sushi from here before. However, the last three times the expected time to complete an order has been way off. First time, waited 30 minutes (which is fine, I get it). Second time I ordered a larger order and she said 50 minutes. Okay, I learned from the first time, don’t show up on time. Showed up 10 minutes after time to pickup and I waited for 30 more minutes! Finally, last order I ordered late in the day, an hour and a half before they close. It was a large order. If they weren’t able to complete the order before they closed, I would’ve been totally fine with that. It is what it is. However, told 50 minutes. Okay… order should be finished around 8:10pm. Show up around 8:20, not done. Finally left at 8:50. I really feel bad for keeping them late but honestly this timing issue needs to get resolved.
