I had a very racist experience at this Bel Air in Folsom. My friend and I went there to get sandwiches for dinner. We go to the Deli department and ordered our food and decided to walk around while we wait. My daughter wants cupcakes, but I didn't want to buy the whole pack. The manager, Laura, offered to make a single cupcake which I really appreciated, but my daughter changed her mind once I gave it to her. She's four so she changes her mind quick. To preserve the cupcake, I put it in the freezer and we went to the checkout to buy our sandwiches. The manager asked where the cupcake was and I told her my daughter changed her mind and I put it in the freezer. She gets upset with us and tells me to go retrieve it insinuating that I ate it and didn't pay for it. I was very embarrassed! My friend and I tried to explain my daughter changed her mind and she continued to belittle us and then had the audacity to claim we were threatening her all because we asked why she was being so rude. I never met this woman before and neither has my friend so I don't understand where the un-business like behavior came from but I will not be going back and I suggest anyone not go back as well. I feel she thought we stole it because I'm a white woman and my friend is black and my daughter is mixed. People change their minds on products all the time and put them back. I should not have been forced to retrieve a cupcake my daughter wasn't going to eat especially if I am a...
Read moreBeen shopping there since they opened the store. Have always had great service except for the last 6 months or so. I go to the deli counter for my lunch meat at least once a week, and sometimes later in the evening because of family obligations, but lately have found it to be in disarray. The meat is left on the counter. They workers are busy doing other things instead of cleaning behind themselves. Just recently, March 27th, I arrived at a quarter to 9 and noticed the workers talking in back. So I asked if the counter was still open and she said yes, but would you like pre sliced because we're getting ready to clean the cutters. I said no thanks and left. First of all, they were in back talking and were not worried about the machines. 2nd/ the counter closes at 9 and she had 15 minutes to do an order. Lastly, I probably would not had her slice me anything after seeing what condition the cutter was in. I think I'll start going elsewhere for my meat, even though I'm just walking distance to the store. FYI, I'll never tell a worker how to do they're jod, or raise my voice or belittle them, but I will voice my displeasure at...
Read moreI continue to shop at this location solely because of its convenience to my home. Unfortunately, the customer service leaves much to be desired across many of the staff I’ve interacted with. It’s disappointing to see that Raley’s once-strong emphasis on customer service and training seems to have declined at this store.
While it’s frustrating that cashiers often fail to make eye contact or offer a genuine greeting, what truly bothers me is the lack of care and common sense when it comes to bagging groceries. Time and time again, I’ve found fragile items like eggs placed under heavy juice bottles or avocados crushed beneath bulk potatoes. This level of carelessness is unacceptable.
I strongly encourage the head clerks and store director to take a closer look at how items are being packed and ensure that staff receive proper training. A little attention to detail can go a long way in improving the...
