Yall know me...I keep it honest...sigh
I had a few Amazon returns to drop off at the UPS Store, so I actually parked in front of Blues Burgers, and stopped in once I was finished with UPS. It was around 3:30 PM yesterday (Saturday).
The two stars are from the gentleman at the register, the French fries, and the vibe, but overall, I did not enjoy my meal.
When I walked in, I told the young man that I was a first-time visitor, and i just wanted a good chicken sandwich. He suggested I order the Trailer Park burger and sub a chicken patty. I was all for it! I mean, who doesnt like a Brioche bun?!?!
I asked if this $11 sandwich came with fries, and was informed it was a la carte. Against my better judgment, I ordered a side of fries and onion rings.
I was so excited! Once they gave me my bag of food, I was in rush mode to get home! I tried to wait, but I am a sucker for a good onion ring, so I allowed my hand to search for them in the bag while driving. Green flag, the texture of the onion was perfect. Red flag #1, they were wide...all of them. Red flag #2, the crust was decorative at best, because it wouldn't stay on. Red flag #3, the onion wasn't sweet. Usually cooked onion gives an almost sweet flavor, especially when fried. Red flag #4, the batter/crust wasn't seasoned. After my first few bites, I thought I had Covid because I couldn't taste anything.
By now, I was home, and started to worry about the rest of the food. I reached for a fry. It was good! Then, opened the sandwich. It looked amazing! Oh, but when I took a bite...smh. It just wasn't giving.
I was disappointed, but I don't waste money or food (unless it is disgustingly awful), and I spent over $20 for this meal, so I ate it.
If anything, I'll return...
Read moreThe burgers my son and I ordered were very good and so were the fries and strawberry soda. Music was very nice. There's a young man who came from the kitchen area to check on our satisfaction and he was genuinely kind, so the stars are for him. The owner and cashier also asked how we were enjoying our visit, which was cool, but the cashier seemed to be wanting us to hurry and leave. It just felt that way to me. Let us take our time and eat and talk without you bothering us please. Its not like there was a full house. The place was practically empty at the time. My son noticed and mentioned to me the fact that we were not asked to come back to see them again like the white patrons were asked to do. Maybe our melanin was the reason Ms. Cashier Missy wanted us gone so bad + neither she nor the owners asked us to visit again though all we did was paid, ate, smiled, and left. The great news: I make better burgers at home for a fraction of what I paid them. Highly overpriced, and I don't go where I'm not wanted, so I'll save money and keep enjoying my homemade burgers that never disappoint. Oh yeah, and I can play blues music 🎶 at home while...
