We tried Cajun Bay last night. We really wanted to LOVE it, and knowing it was a "soft opening", we tried going in with an open mind.
The atmosphere was awesome. I loved the look of the restaurant and the concept of it all.
We asked our waitress what a few menu items had on them or what it was and the waitress had to go ask, each time. Sometimes she would come back with an answer, sometimes she wouldn't. This was one of those open mind things because we know it's new. She took our order... fried shrimp basket, fried fish basket, and shrimp po boy! We got our baskets within 10 min of ordering, but our son's Po Boy came out 20 min after ours. Wouldn't have been too much of a problem if we would have just gotten it all together, but people next to us were getting their appetizers and the entire meal before my son got his sandwich which the only difference between ours and his was bread and lettuce. The shrimp and catfish had zero seasoning and it honestly tasted as if it was from the frozen food section at the grocery store. My son's Po Boy was good and it did have the fried shrimp in it, but the bread lettuce and the sauce took away the frozen food flavor and it was decent. However, the fries he got were covered in so much salt, he couldn't eat them. The fries in the basket were a little cold, but the shrimp and fish were hot...so that's a plus, I guess.
We saw a family leaving and asked how they liked it and they said that the fried food tasted like it had been frozen and that the boil wasn't too bad.
The 2 stars is for the amount of shrimp and fish they give. 8 shrimps in the shrimp basket and 4 filets in the fish basket. It is also for the po boy that was decent and the atmosphere.
We didn't try anything boiled so I can not say anything about that, but I will say...you want some yummy fried shrimp/fish in Forney....I'd just stick with Doe Belly's!...
Read moreWorst eating out EVER! So, atmosphere GREAT! Waitress name Tammie I highly recommend 👌 but The sous Chef and the Chef I would NOT hire at McDonald's.....1ST Calamari was like chewing rubber, salad was next, we got a side of 3 different salad dressings. All of them were horrible.(I'm not sure how to screw up Ranch or Honey Mustard but ever sauce tasted like they put 4 Tablespoons of salt in them, Next was oysters on half shell.. ok this is my all time favorite appetizer. I have been eating oysters since I was 7yrs old..(62 now btw first time to ever spend time writing a review..) I get oysters, doctor them all up, get ready to dip into cocktail sauce and horseradish and instead I had a bowl of Tabasco sauce... ok..ok.. I already know that Tabasco sauce has always been on the table along side the other condiments but not as the main sauce...and please Only if you have a serious SALT ADDICTION..do not try the Tatar sauce. After we paid for our dinner that we couldn't eat I ask to speak to the manager...oh ok...now I get it! Coming full circle with the truth.. the manager (still not sure if he was just a bus boy) he acted as if we were complaining about just not have club crackers instead of saltine. Very immature 🙄 had no social skills at all. I was thinking that every home town restraunt needs to thrive so these criticism where to improve there business..not wanting anything in return. ..ok I'm done!
Ps..it seemed like everyone was enjoying there boiled baskets.. which we...
Read moreI am almost embarrassed to say that I have lived here for over 2 years and have driven past this place many many times. Always had it on my radar of places I was gonna try, but never got around to visiting. I took my Lady to this place a couple days ago and even though it was 106° outside, it was frosty inside. I wished I had brought a jacket LOL. She ordered a salad and a fish and shrimp basket. I ordered the crab Rangoons for an appetizer and a shrimp Poboy with a side of fried rice. Her salad came out crisp and fresh, and as the waitress placed it on the table, I found myself saying out loud, " damn that's a good-looking salad." The crab Rangoons were crisp and soft and filled with delicious crab and cream cheese. The sweet chili sauce sent them over the top! Moments after the appetizer was there the main dishes came out. Again, the presentation was spectacular! Everything was so fresh from the lettuce and tomatoes to the shrimp, which were big and beautifully crispy. Her catfish and shrimp were also just as amazing. The taste of the food was the best seafood I've had since I moved here and some of the best I've had, period!! This is a statement to not be taken lightly as I moved from Maryland and Virginia and the seafood game is crazy there! All in all it was a moment that I enjoyed so much that I had to call family and friends and tell them about this place. Will most definitely be returning here...
