I was at the movies around the corner and my family was hungry for food the theatre didn’t have. I called them and said I would leave the movie I really wanted to see and miss some to feed the family. I thought at first it was $9.99 for a bowl because when you look on Google it says that the bowls are that price. I brought that up on the phone after she told me the price and she gave me attitude and says “well they are $14.99. You can take it or leave it” and gives me and option with attitude. I said “that’s fine, I just didn’t know since the pic stated otherwise” and continued to purchase. I rush there and rush back so I didn’t miss a lot of the movie. I get inside and both of the teriyaki salmon bowls and the chicken teriyaki were dry and had no sauce on them. We even looked at the rice to see if it was under it or something since that would be easy to see and it was nothing. I call them and told them the situation because my family didn’t like it either and my daughter eats anything. They said that was fine and to come another day and the whole meal would be free. I came all the way back from Willits and after I ordered the lady that told me it would be free came out to confront us and LIED to me in front of my family telling me she said only one. I told her right then and there “I can look you in the eye and tell you you told me all three would be free and that’s what we talked about last night”. She broke eye contact completely and said “that’s all I’m going to tell you now”. I’m very big on being real to people and not lying. It’s never worth a $45 meal. So I didn’t get food and paid for a bowl for my daughter and mrs. And called it a day. Good miso soup! But the other...

Food wasn't terrible but the chef was extremely rude to us! Which I feel affected the quality of the other dishes we ordered as well as the whole rest of our family dining experience. It all started when we ordered the special which offered "squid deep fried" what we recieved was not squid/calamari at all but large purple chewy octopus legs. We politely let the server know that it was octopus and that we didn't want it. She was understanding and removed the chewy OCTOPUS from our table and offered to have it removed from our check since out of 6 pieces my husband and I shared ONE to give it a test drive to see if we may want to overlook the mix up and just eat the octopus without complaint but it was like seafood chewing gum. :( (so we politely informed the server. no thanks) chef proceeds to come to our table where we were with our five year old child. And WAVE a slightly larger also purple octopus leg at us and rudely tell us we were wrong. We just let it slide since we weren't trying to ruin the entire dining experience. We then ate and had to ask for the check. After checking for the check they ended up charging us for the dish that was not only falsely advertised but...

This restaurant has amazing food and for that I give it 5 stars. The Service however Gets 3 stars. The reason for the 3 stars is because during the trip with my friends and I we had lunch there yesterday and the surface was Sub par, the waitress messed up 2 Orders And another 2 orders didn't arrive at the table until everyone was done. Once we were all finished she brought us our ticket and I noticed that there were 2 totals on said bill one total was the amount of what my food was and the tax. The other total was 18% added to my 1st total for a gratuity. My friends the aid of us all sat in the restaurant at different tables yet we all paint had separate tickets yet we're all charged 18% gratuity so that they could get a Tip regardless higher than that they have gotten otherwise. I don't like going somewhere and being forced to tip somebody when yes I'm they're gonna get a tip but I don't think that it should be forced upon you to pay them a tip higher than thr normal tip rate. I most likely will not return her and that saddens me because their food again is amazing it's a shame they lost...

This isn't your typical 5 star restaurant. My first time in Fort Bragg and what a pleasant surprise. It's not an upscale $20 per order nigiri spot with omakase offering. I'll admit it was our 3rd option looking for late night eating options in town, but my family and I wanted a sit down (dine-in) dinner. Most of the restaurants in town closed at 8 pm. They closed at 9. We arrived around 8:45 and they graciously accommodated us. They provided great customer service start to finish. Friendly, didn't feel rushed, and food came out timely. I ordered all over the spectrum of the menu. Nigiri, Chicken Karaage, Miso Cod, and Rolls. Everything was amazing. I mean amazing. My 9 year olds are the true test and they loved it all. They did everything well. Do not hesitate to order nigiri. Fish was fresh, rice was perfect. Ama ebi and uni was available and were a steal of a deal. Tempura and fried items were perfect. Bottom line, no frills, affordable prices, friendly service, and great eats. Don't miss out on this sushi chef. The great ones are rare and we are so thankful that we tried Taka's food.

Taka's is a local institution and a definite go to when you want Sushi Only in Fort Bragg. It is a favorite spot with friends and family for special occasions and birthdays. We were served by the amazing Stevie whose service is excellent and was always around to help, she made sure that the birthday girl got a special treat. The food was quick and the presentation amazing as has become standard at Takas. We tried appetizers of edemame, miso soup, gyoza and veggie tempura all yummy. The salads are fresh with tasty fish. The teriyaki bowl dinner was ginormous and every morsel finished. The Takas and Dragon rolls were made to perfection. I am a fan of their Saba, aka Mackerel, it was very fresh. I also enjoyed the best Spider Roll I have had in years. We are blessed to have such amazing food options and this weekend, Sushi is going on swimmingly on the Mendocino Coast. #thepuddingcreektrestle

We ate in the patio area, would have been a bit more comfy with armless chairs, but we were happy to avoid Covid germs. We cannot rave enough about the salmon/avocado/mango rolls, they were hands down the best sushi we’ve ever had! (Better than any we’ve had in SF or LA). The salmon was SO fresh and the flavors mixed together were outstanding. The Cal Rolls were good as well,( we had the real crab). Service was great and cheerful.
