Persimmon — Restaurant in Fort Collins

Located in Old Town Fort Collins, Persimmon is a unique place for sophisticated cocktails and delicious small plates. Raffi Jergerian (usually behind the bar) has created a lounge and cafe with a decidedly cool vibe. Framed prints from the influential American artist Cy Twombly decorate the walls. Down a flight of stairs is a cozy and quiet sitting room.

For small plates we enjoyed Persian Love Cake—flavored with rose water, citrus, and cardamom. The five of us agreed it was the best cake we have ever tasted. We also got walnut date cookies which were baked to perfection. We each ordered a different cocktail and then passed them around. Each had its own glassware and distinctive garnish (see photos): coconut margarita, eldorado, pasha, sour, and the intensely flavored and colored viola.

Persimmon is a gem! My friends and I have been four or five times in the last month and we have absolutely loved every visit. Every sandwich we have tried has been delicious. The babaganoush is unique and flavorful, our favorite of the appetizers we have had so far. Today we ordered our first cocktail, a Bloody Mary, and it is top-notch. We will be back for drinks because the owner, Raffi, is extremely knowledgeable about his bar and had some homemade shrubs ageing on the counter for a soon-to-be new cocktail menu. Impressive!
