Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Fort Gratiot Charter Township

I was given a gift card for Jimmy John's. I have never had Jimmy John's before and I don't think I'll be returning. The food was pretty good but the service was lacking dramatically. With my gift card. I ate here 2 days in a row for lunch. Yesterday and today .The same girl waited on me at the cash register as both days. I tried to hand her my gift card and she pointed over at the credit card machine and says I have to do it there. I made a comment that it didn't work yesterday and thought she'd want to type it in as needed again today. I scanned it on the credit card machine as she requested and of course it didn't work. So I handed it to her again. She got all pissy and was frustrated because she had to type the numbers in for the gift card. Huffed and puffed in was very sharp with the register that they had. I used everything that was on my gift card and with the way she acted because she had to type a number in I don't think I'd be returning. I hope she didn't give this kind of service to other people. And personally I thought it was unprofessional that she had an earbud in while she is working. As a customer makes us feel as though you only get half of her attention. I will never spend money here again. We have had repeated bad experiences with Jimmy John's delivery, but the icing on the cake was finding out that the manager fired one of her staff for requesting bereavement time when his sister passed unexpectedly. I find this absolutely disgusting. I have made 3 attempts to talk to the manager of this location about this issue and get her side of the story. I was told once that she was out on a delivery (the manager leaves the store to make deliveries?). I came on Saturday I was told the manager doesn't work weekends (why doesn't the manager of a fast food/delivery place work weekends?), so I came back Monday but she still wasn't in. Very curious if the manager makes her own decisions here regarding hiring and firing with no input from HR, or if this kind of treatment of employees is sanctioned by Jimmy John's. Either way, I would urge locals to pick another sandwich shop. We have to look after our own in this community, and NO ONE deserves to be treated this way after dealing with an unexpected loss of...

Not impressed! Second time here in a LONG time, and it hasn't changed. First order the bread is barely cooked now and as white as a ghost, im assuming this is purposely done so the bread doesn't get overcooked if someone orders a toasted sub. But this undercooked bread taste like garbage if you order a cold sub. But my biggest complaint is why they no longer make the sandwiches on the paper wrapper instead of a dirty unsanitary counter??? Not only is this unsanitary but is very dangerous if someone has allergies, and even if someone doesn't have food allergies, you have food cross contamination which can cause food poisoning, which has happen to me which is why I stopped coming here, and started to go to Jersey Mike but now they no longer make their subs on paper wrappers, and if you ask for it too be made on paper you get a snotty attitude.
