I had made a 7:15 reservation to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday on 9/11/21, hoping to catch the sunset while dining on the intimate and exclusive Marriott Harbor Beach property. We arrived a little before 7pm and we’re offered a table almost immediately inside, but declined to get a table outside. Unfortunately people like to camp out, and I don’t blame them with the view at sunset, so we didn’t sit until almost 7:45. The manager, Kevin, was extremely apologetic and he and his hostess(I am so sorry that I forgot her name, but she is an angel) were trying everything they could in their power to get us a seat outside before the sun set.
While we were waiting, we grabbed a few drinks at the bar and took them outside and walked around the property a little bit. We did catch the sunset that way, so it wasn’t a total loss there.
We sat down at probably the best table in the whole place, outside. We had the nicest server, Jackie. We ordered the crab cakes to start. They were absolutely amazing, and come with an aioli that’s similar to what is served with Stone Crab. I ordered the Filet Mignon, and my boyfriend ordered the Grouper with Risotto.
I really feel terrible for the staff here. They must be berated and treated terribly all of the time by restaurant goers. I say this because when we had the minor set back with getting a table, and our food arriving late due to backups in the kitchen, everyone seemed a little anxious to tell us bad news. However, I’m going to take a second and remind everyone who reads this review that we live in a different world post COVID. Restaurants are short staffed and have supply issues. Be patient. Be kind. Be courteous. Be understanding. Everyone at 3030 Ocean, and all other restaurants are trying their absolute best to serve you and make you happy.
I explained to Jackie that everything was fine. We didn’t mind waiting for our dinner, and a few minutes later our dishes were placed right in front of us. She stayed to make sure our first bite was to our liking (which that bite and every bite after was and then some). My filet was cooked perfectly medium. The mashed potatoes were flavorful and the asparagus was sautéed to perfection. I stole a bite of the grouper and risotto, and that was delicious and very flavorful.
Just as we were about to wrap up and take the check, Jackie and Kevin came over with a chocolate mousse cake and a salted caramel cheesecake and sung happy birthday with us. My boyfriend was delighted. We couldn’t decide which was better, but if you love chocolate, the chocolate mousse cake is something you cannot miss.
Jackie and Kevin came over at the end to genuinely thank us for our business, and to thank us for being everything I put in my PSA (courteous, kind, patient, and understanding). How could we not be when even despite very minor set backs, our expectations in food, drink, and service were totally exceeded?
All in all it was a beautiful evening, and a night that I do t think I or my boyfriend will ever forget. Thank you Kevin and Jackie for being amazing. We cannot wait to...
Read moreFinally I have the time to write about my experience at the restaurant. It was our 5 year anniversary and I made a table reservation 3 days in advance with a special request of a window table and two glasses of champagne upon arrival. The reservation was for 8.30pm. On the day of, I received two calls from the restaurant confirming the reservation and both times I had repeated my special request. It was a surprise dinner for me and my spouse, so I wanted everything to be perfect. Upon arrival to the restaurant at 8.20pm the hostess in a rude manner asked us: "How can I help you?". Politely, I explained that we had a reservation on which we were told to wait until our table is ready. Once again I quietly reminded her of my special champagne request. After waiting for about 20 minutes, the hostess returns and says that our table is ready and we may proceed to it. Half way through she tells us that the table she thought was available now, unfortunately is not as she got confused. So after waiting a little bit longer she comes back and tells us that they do not have a window table available and we may choose to sit anywhere else (of course forget the champagne, since we are walking around searching for a spot). As we finally decide to give up on the window table and take one right next to it, we realize that "our table" is now occupied by two gentlemen who just had arrived. After speaking with them, they agreed to move since it was our special occasion and we had made this reservation 3 days in advance. Of course, the surprised was completely ruined, there was no champagne, I had to tell my husband that I had planned it all differently. We asked for our champagne and with the moment completely ruined continued on with our dinner. What's important is that I wanted the window table at 8.30pm so that we could enjoy the view of the ocean until it becomes completely dark, instead we go to our table way passed 9.00pm and the view was gone as well. I am giving this restaurant 2 stars: one for the chief and one for the server. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful and the most of the food was delicious. Except the complimentary dessert that we received as an apology. We did not enjoy it at all. For some of you I may seem like a drama queen, making a big deal out of nothing, but when you plan something in advance and want it to be just perfect, because you and your loved one are celebrating your love, you expect what you pay for. This is not a cheap restaurant. But the management could be much much better. We will never return nor will we recommend this place to our friends, at least not for a...
Read moreA couple of friends and I recently went to sea level for an anniversary. When we go to the restaurant I should have known that something was going to go wrong when it took "20 MINUTES TO GET WATER" delivered by our very distracted waiter "CRAIG". How can I describe Craig... He was completely uninterested in our needs, let alone offering any type of good quality service. I would like to also mention we were his only table inside the actual restaurant the entirety of our meal. By the time we got our food I really wanted to say something to the manager but it was not my anniversary so I was trying to let everything go and try to enjoy the night... But it KEEPS GETTING WORSE. We finished eating and ordered dessert. At that point all that needed to be done was to CLEAR THE TABLE. After being asked twice to clear our plates, he cleared only half the table and left the rest. I mean how rude it that? Did I mention Craig hardly came to our table to see how we were doing the whole meal?? By the time we got our check I made a decision not to leave a tip which I usually don't ever do. I go out to eat to enjoy food and service and the SERVICE WAS THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. But we were a party of 6 and gratuity was added automatically... I paid my check by credit card, with the tip and never asked for the manager and tried to call it a night. The next day I checked my bank account and saw Craig charged me an extra $6 (totaling $46 per person) to my bill!!! Which was more than a 40% tip!!! What nerve of this guy. So I call the restaurant and asked for the manager "Richard" I told him what happened to both me AND my fiancé and he said he would investigate what happened. He called me back 20min later to confirm that our bill had in fact been changed to an amount different than we wrote, and told me we would be reimbursed for the Full amount of the bill. I checked my bank account a few days later and they reversed the amount and still charged us the $40 we initially paid. The waiter stole from me and my fiancé then afterward the manager went back on his word to reimburse our dinner in full. The waiter is a THIEF and the manager is a LIAR. I would never come back to this Sea Level and will tell all our friends about our experience....
