Iâm extremely disappointed with how I was treated at The Shorely At Marina Village. As someone who relies on a trained service animal for medical reasons, I was shocked and hurt when I was treated unfairly due to my service dog.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), individuals with disabilities are legally allowed to be accompanied by their service animals in public spaces. Unfortunately, the staff lacked awareness of these laws and chose to ignore them entirely. I attempted to explain my rights calmly and respectfully, but I was still met with resistance, suspicion, and outright discrimination. I was approached by a tall Caucasian man in security that was ungroomed in his face with salt and pepper hair most likely in his 50s, after being let in and even been given a dog bowl of water by the staff. He was super aggressive and very loud claimed my service dog was not a service animal and that service animals do not exist. He claimed âhe does not care and his buddy said that service dogs do not exist!â Mind you my service dog had her vest on and I also stated several times Iâm more than willing to provide her paperwork as I was sitting to the side of the bar away from all other guest out of respect. There was also a bartender that claims heâs the bar manager named Roger because I requested management due to how uncomfortable I was made. He came over just abruptly saying âmaâam thatâs not a service dogâ. Not even asking whatâs going on and he kept saying itâs not without asking for my credentials. Once I pulled out her paperwork and showed him he was violating a federal law he then stated after the 10 minutes of being humiliated that I was âgoodâ. I left immediately because the rudeness and unprofessionalism was beyond disrespectful and this was about 7:30pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
No one should have to feel humiliated or excluded because of their disability. I hope this business takes steps to properly train their employees and ensure they are complying with federal laws moving forward. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone, especially those in the disability community. Sad part is they supposedly do rescue events on the promenade and Iâve attended so I didnât believe there would be issues because I never seen anyone get harassed the way I did yesterday. Roger was so distasteful and if thatâs the person you guys call a manager he needs to be demoted or removed...
Read moreBefore you read my review please read the following review that i found after my review which read as follows:
Wish I could rate them 0 or negative stars - the bouncer was incredibly discriminatory and refused one member of our party from entry because he deemed her to be âtoo tipsyâ but could not provide reasoning as to why he thought so. The bouncer then called security after we asked if there was anything we could do prove that she had the same amount to drink as the rest of our party. The security later apologized on behalf of the bouncer and stated that he has a reputation of being difficult.
Then my review is as follows:
Please be wear this place does not provide an environment where they welcome all. They clearly want specific population in their business. They will falsely accuse you and take an unnecessarily aggressive approach with you should they have the slightest issue. To the owners, i would highly recommend some training with your staff when it comes to any conflict resolution. Unless that is you are in support of having specific people picked upon. get the qualified security in. Otherwise you are vibing prejudicial and irresponsible rules - fyi im talking about the guy that says hes head...
