A true gem in Fort Lauderdale, right by the beach and central to many sites and sounds. This hotel is ALMOST perfect, there’s just a handful of things that prevents me from giving five starts - in all honesty this is right at 4 stars maybe 3.8 stars.
If you’re TLDR; but please see details below. Great rooms with stellar views, but unfortunate signs of light wear-and-tear and possible water issues. ideal choice location, many sites and sounds with great access to transportation. Many above and beyond hotel employees, but some staff could use an extra course on courtesy/smile. Beautiful beach oceanfront access and stellar pool facilities.
I truly enjoyed my stay as this was a long five day getaway for me, a beautiful facility with beach access and beach chair (two complimentary and option to rent umbrella). I selected the Queen Marina View as it was a great find on a booking website, great choice with views of the marina, downtown Fort Lauderdale and views of the cruise ships at port! Cassandra, Sean and the other early front desk ladies were of tremendous help and knowledge of the area. I was able to check right in when I arrived from the airport, did not expect that! The room itself was clean and crisp, true Hilton features with TV, spacious bathroom, comfy linens and plentiful lights and storage options. Kuerig machine, ice bucket, you get two bottles of water daily - and the housekeeping team is amazing in offering me additional water as I requested. I’m room safe easy to use. However, there was unfortunate initial signs of wear-and-tear the doors in my room seemed to be a bit roughed up, closet can be a bit sticky to close, and I did NOT receive a bathrobe initially I had to go to the front desk, but the lovely front desk woman was quick to assist.
Another reason for the lower rating was my room eventually started to leak from the AC unit, this is right as you enter the room (apparently the front desk has been made aware of this previously and the ceiling showed signs of previous water) I was worried I’d need to swap rooms and remove items I had just stored away, but the quick maintenance man came and repaired the AC unit and was given extra towels to lay on the puddle. I know Florida humidity can cause this, similar the mini fridge in the rooms have condensation and needed to be wiped repeatedly, this was another downside of the rooms - other than that a true gem.
The lobby is spacious, plenty to sit and scent is amazing. The sitting area just outside is a great touch, it just can get a bit messy with wrappers and other trash. The Starbucks next door was so convenient. This hotel does have a bit of a resort feel, with two complimentary drinks per day with provided coupons, the beautiful pool deck with cabanas and lounge chairs along with a bar+café on the 5th floor, with the lovely employee there asking and checking on the guests like they do at Caribbean resorts. Very classy.
The Riviera was also a great convenience for an early breakfast, lunch with amazing ocean views and of course you can do room service and charge to your room so you can be hands free.
In all the Hotel Maren is a hidden gem, great facilities that attest to the idealistic location. With an “extra glove” approach this hotel would get a full five star review from me, however, some instances I saw did miss the mark. Would I visit again, it is very likely I’d visit again :) - great couples getaway also...
Read moreFort Lauderdale's Gem: Hotel Maren Ft Lauderdale Beach After a year or so of staying at another fantastic Hilton property in Hollywood Fl, my recent return to Hotel Maren in Fort Lauderdale was prompted by a very special occasion: a joint celebration for my mom's birthday and my own. And what a delightful decision it proved to be! From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was relatively seamless. It's always a welcoming sign when efficiency meets warmth, and it was particularly lovely to see a familiar face, Shawn, whose welcoming demeanor set a wonderful tone for our stay. Our initial room was exactly as remembered – large and pretty well laid out, offering a comfortable and inviting space. While a full oceanfront room is always a dream, the partial ocean view was still a beautiful perk, allowing us to soak in glimpses of the stunning Fort Lauderdale coastline. Of course, no stay is entirely without its minor hiccups, but what truly distinguishes a great hotel is how these are handled. The staff at Hotel Maren were consistently quick to address any small issues, always taking feedback and constructive criticism in stride, which speaks volumes about their dedication to guest satisfaction. This commitment truly shone through when we were graciously switched and upgraded to a truly lovely suite that more than met our expectations. This suite was simply breathtaking. The spaciousness of the room was remarkable, providing ample space to relax and unwind. But the real showstopper, the absolute highlight, was the balcony. "Beyond words" hardly does it justice; it was absolutely stunning and just so large, offering an incredible vantage point and an extension of our luxurious living space. Throughout our stay, the exceptional service from the Hotel Maren team made all the difference. Special recognition must be given to Robert, who is just so wonderfully attentive and truly a great asset to the hotel, making every interaction a pleasure. Additionally, Son, Chakira, Tamara, Kass, Shawn, Felipe, and Santiago each contributed to a truly memorable experience with their professionalism and genuine hospitality. Beyond the rooms and the incredible staff, Hotel Maren's location is a true highlight. Its convenience and proximity to the beach are unparalleled, making it incredibly easy to step out and enjoy the sand and surf. It truly embodies the spirit of a very boutique hotel, offering a more intimate and personalized experience compared to larger resorts. The perks of two free beach chairs each day and complimentary bike rentals only enhance the overall value, allowing guests to fully explore the vibrant surroundings. My only wish, as a minor point of improvement, would be for the pool area to receive a bit more attention in terms of maintenance. The cabana lounges, while tolerable, could stand for an update; showing stains, the cushions could use restuffing, and the canopies are starting to tear and appear weathered and ratty. Additionally, having some music played in the pool area would greatly enhance the ambiance and overall guest experience. All in all, despite these minor points regarding the pool, you will undoubtedly enjoy your stay at Hotel Maren. It's a true gem in Fort Lauderdale, offering convenience, comfort, and a genuinely warm hospitality that makes it a place you'll want to return to, time...
