Mitch's Downtown Bagel Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

I ordered a pumpernickel bagel toasted with cream cheese and lox they told me they don't have lox they only have Nova so I ordered it with Nova and cream cheese it took 20 minutes when I left and got home I found that they had not even toasted the bagel this cost $21.43

And it was really poor quality lousy bagel Lots of cream cheese that didn't taste like cream cheese and a little bit of noVA

And there's no communicating with them the place operates more like a machine not a deli everything is automated including any rewards there's no personality lol

For those that don't know any better it's probably a great place

Your response shows how you are unfamiliar with the industry and customers I thank you for your offer of something else on your menu but more of something that's not good is really not a benefit to the consumer it gets you off the hook and perhaps rid of some of the food no one else wants but it's really not a consolation prize at all.

If your ingredients are so expensive why are they so poor tasting And if you're charging so much more why are the quantities such small amounts compared to other New York style delicatessens.

You seem unfamiliar with the industry you should check out some of the other New York style delicatessens where the same meal is $12.99 With much better ingredients and nicer quantity.

At those delicatessens the rewards are not given to you by an app they're given by the people you get to know because of the service and their interest in their customer

I would respond to your email account or your Facebook or your website however I'm legally blind and they're not very blind friendly to operate.

So had to go check out mitch’s and see if they really have aced the Lox bagel…. In short, It’s above par but significantly overvalued and not worth the ~$17

Location: 5/5 awesome spot just hard to find parking sometimes

Options: 5/5 you want an egg bagel go for it, no bagel, that’s fine they have a deli and pre packaged black and whites (calm down it’s not Katz)

Bagel flavor: (everything bagel) 4/5 good mix of taste nothing unique but nice that it’s not over powering

Bagel dryness: 3/5 A bit to dry on the outside and the inside was not fluffy enough to feel that softness

Lox: 4/5 Solid and fresh, not a personal favorite but above par

Lox bagel: 3/5 good mix of options L/O etc but I had to pay a $1 for capers ???

Cream cheese ratio : 2/5 way overpowered by the cream cheese and it was only on one size?? there is a magic to how much you add if you actually want to taste your bagel

Value: 1/5 $17+ for 1 bagel??? This place is way over priced and simply can’t justify it.. additional charging for capers is bs, it’s part of the dish..

Staff: 5/5 professional and great listeners

Overall, I would say it was an experience worthwhile. I don’t think I would go back to just due to the lack of value in the bagel unless I was OK with getting a bagel and smear for $6. I would love to see management find other ways to save costs to drive down the actual prices it would make it an awesome staple to hang out at and enjoy their food. Last time I was in New York I know I didn’t pay above $13 for a bagel and lox and i know the fish didn’t swim all the way down here...

Mitch Downtown Cafe is hands down the best cafe in town. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff here are absolutely fantastic - always friendly, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing dining experience.
