There was a bug in my Taco...Being a loyal customer of the original Myapapaya, I could'nt wait to try this new place out. I went for lunch Friday 06/15 and the experience has left me with no desire to return. My girlfriend and I ordered a Brazilian Acai bowl (best acai bowl in Ftl!) and the fish Tacos. After 20 minutes of waiting we received the acai bowl first and it had already melted... we could have done with a straw to drink it! Not to worry, the taste was still good and we had the fish tacos to make up for it. The fish tacos arrived shortly after and upon examination we found a live bug crawling through the lettuce.... we picked out the bug, and upon further examination we found a short thick black hair in there as well...this was when the nausea started...
As lunches go this wasnt the most ideal situation, but mistakes happen and we decided to return the food to the kitchen. Following presentation of the bug and hair infested tacos to the waitress, I was requested to speak with the manager. I explained to the manager what had happened and showed him the bug and the hair.... he didnt seem too concerned but offered to make us fresh tacos, which I refused as quite frankly, they were not going to taste good with the thought of eating bug's and the chef's stubble on my mind. After I refused the second batch of Tacos the manager simply said "ok then" and that was the end of conversation. No refund was offered for the meal (If you didnt charge in advance I would have refused to pay for this) What is there to say? This is not the type of quality or service that I would expect, especially from myapapaya given that the original restaurant is great. I go to the other myapapaya on a weekly basis and will continue to go there as it is great, but currently I have no intention to...
Read moreMany good things about this place and it used to be my favorite. There is a variety of healthy and tasty food. The employees are friendly. Outside seating options are lovely. It's annoying af that everything comes in a paper box with plastic utensils. It's hard and messy to eat out of the box and the meals are not assembled. For example, if something comes with chicken on it, the chicken breast will come out whole, wrapped in tin foil, along with other elements of the dish in little plastic containers. You then have to spend time putting it together and cutting it with plastic cutlery. I don't visit anymore because it ends up being more effort to go there then to just prepare something at home. The quality of food is good, but for the aggravating experience it feels a bit overpriced-- even if it were a good experience it still seems pricey. You're encouraged to sit down and order from the QR code, but that's not very clear and checking out with the app is very confusing. It says something like "pick up or delivery." It makes you wonder if you're doing the wrong thing by dinning in. It would be nice if there was a confirmation on the app that lets you know you're in the right place, doing the right thing, and that your food will come out to you. Or better yet, would rather just only have the option to order from the counter. Then it would at least FEEL like you're tipping for something.
Most of the food is pretty tasty. The bison burger and bread it comes on is hard to get down. The smoothies are really good ,however, every time I order one I ask for no gogi berrries because of any allergy and every time, the gogi berries have...
Read moreI visited this establishment yesterday. I went to the counter used for take out and pick up orders. I ordered and paid the smiling male cashier then moved to the side to wait for my 2 smoothies and spicy tuna. I looked around at the juices in the cooler. I drank lemon water for a bit then realized people were ordering and leaving that ordered after me. I went back to the counter to ask the female if my order ready, as it had been 10 minutes, and I was told not yet by a very busy cashier. The initial person who took my order asked my name again then went to look at the receipts. I was told it'll be ready shortly. Hmmmm, I'm thinking shortly was about 7 minutes ago. Another employee from the counter on the other side designated for dine in customers, noticed I was still standing there beside the counter and asked the man who took my order initially about my order. He raced to grab a container of spicy tuna out of the cooler and grabbed my smoothies from someone else, bagged everything apologized quickly referring to a mishap with the printer. I was standing there while he helped countless people for a total of about 15 + minutes. I even asked about my order and still nothing. After I rushed out and get to my room I realized there was a piece of a broken toothpick, normally used to hold a sandwich together, in the spicy tuna. I decided to just throw it away. Needless to say I'll never be back. I still had to go buy lunch so I went to Fresh First and loved it and...
