Update 2/15/23. Ordered delivery. Ordered spicy ramen and came with just the broth and noodles. Spicy Ramen “mixed spicy takana in Pork broth served with charshu (shoulder), green onion, woodear mushroom, noodles, seaweed.” Then there’s list of boxes to check off for food mods to remove anything you don’t want. None of those boxes were checked and still didn’t have the items listed in the description. From 2 stars to 1 star. Would never recommend this location to anyone. Super disappointed.

(2 star previous review) Food was alright, service was terrible. Came here for dinner (for 2) around 8pm, was informed last call for kitchen was 8:30pm which is fine. We got seated for 10 seconds and the person ask if we were ready to order. Of course not lol, we just sat down and haven’t even taken off our jackets. When we were finally ready to order, we had to repeat and confirm our order 4 times (deluxe tonkotsu ramen, ajitama tonkotsu ramen, jasmine green tea and black sugar kakigori). The food came, asked who ordered the deluxe and I raised my hand but yet the server set it down in front of my boyfriend instead (we swapped after the server left but how weird). The kakigori took a long time to come after we had already finished our ramens and when it did finally come, the person poured the black sugar syrup on top for us but majority of it rolled off the side (wasted), also I would skip ordering this because it wasn’t that good. We had just received the kakigori for maybe a minute before the server came to ask us to pay for our bill (think it was 8:45pm at the time so they weren’t even closing yet), we paid but it felt really rude and interrupted. They also didn’t refill my boyfriend’s water cup until we were about to leave (I noticed that maybe the owner?? had to tell a server to refill the water because she noticed it was empty for some time). It wasn’t that busy for the service to be so bad. Good to try once but...

This restaurant's food is as good as the atmosphere and service (not the waiter's fault) is annoying. First, enough with the QR code menus. It's a goofy hold-over from Covid that isn't hip/cool. These BRIGHT ORANGE QR code menus are plastered all over the restaurant. They're glued to the glass at the bar/counter eating section. The "interior design" of the restaurant is modern minimalist (and that's fine), but then everywhere you look are bright orange QR codes. Second, I ordered a bowl of ramen and asked if corn could be added. The waiter let me know it could be added. I asked him how I had to do it (on my phone) because there wasn't a corn option on the menu selection.. he told me he would have to do it because "it's a complex order". If having corn added to ramen is complex, we will never send men to the moon again (if we ever did). When the ramen came, the corn and extra pork belly I added were on a very small plate, which I then had to dump into the ramen.. why would someone order an add-on to ramen that wasn't actually in the ramen? Finally I had to listen to the waiter's back-and-forth conversation with the table next to me because they too ordered something that required some sort of accommodation which then required the waiter to call or text the manager who was already home for the day. This is no fault of the waiter who was visibly flustered by his inability to adjust orders as necessary. He was running around with some silly handheld device trying to place a few orders the entire time I was there. Get rid of the bright orange QR code menus. Get a traditional menu with photos that don't have to be expanded with my fingers. Make your add-ons easy for the waiter to include on the bill, and get cabbage as an add-on for the ramen, as has become popular in Ramen (because of Americans requesting it). PS. I was there on the...

Really surprise this place received such a high rating. I came craving for some good hot soupy ramen meal and left quite unsatisfied.

FOOD: ordered the deluxe tonkatsu; the Ebi Katsu udon; the deluxe Tsukemen; and an app of edamame.

For some reason I just did not enjoy the tonkatsu. Quite frankly I don’t know what makes it deluxe even when I compared it with other non deluxe items. Perhaps it was the thin noodles I found slightly too chewy (undercooked) or it was the greasy broth I wasn’t feeling or maybe it was how my egg was still cold. I did not finish it.

My teen got the udon. I tried it too but it was fairly plain. Good for kids who want plain broth and nothing fancy. Kind of like a plain spaghetti with red sauce type of dish for picky eaters. Nothing special.

As for the Tsukemen….we all enjoyed that A LOT more than the former two dishes. The noodles were thicker and smoother(?). The broth was tastier without being greasier. The pork was a bit too fatty but even still, the entire dish was much more worth it than the tonkatsu and udon. Maybe the higher stars are geared towards this vs other noodles.

Service: average.

Atmosphere: outside looked promising; inside is okay. Could use a cleaner bathroom. I always question restaurants with gross bathrooms since the staff uses same and it’s a bit of a reflection of cleanliness of the operation.

Parking: can be tricky since it’s the street that leads right onto GWB.

Overall: would only return for...

You can buy soup in bulk at the stock market. @tsujitala started out in 2003 in Tokyo, and opened in 2011 in LA. You’ll see lines here, but we went right at opening - still was a full house. Their broth is simmered for 15 hours daily - a lot of people told me to go here in my search of the best ramen, even though it’s not in Orange County. They often win awards - like Los Angeles Time’s 101 Best Restaurants in LA, and Jonathan Gould’s 101 best restaurants. We got their signature tsukemen. The broth is super rich - I will admit I wasn’t able to finish it because I had to cut the lunch short, but I would have if I could have. The broth also wasn’t too warm - not sure if that was intentional or not. Many say this is the best spot there is, and is the standard to hold other ramen to. Have you tried? What’s your favorite spot? . . . #ramen #foodreel #losangeles #lafood #ramenlover #explore #foodie #eeeeats #tryitordiet #wheretoeat #comfortfood

I spent 2 years in Sawtelle, and I tell all my friends that Tsujita is my favorite restaurant of all time. So when I heard that they were opening one here in the tri state, I was super stoked. When I lived in Sawtelle, I would go to Tsujita weekly. I biked 11 miles from Long Island City to this new location on opening week (which speaks volume for my affinity towards Tsujita). The food was great, albeit I was pretty disappointed by the disparity between the LA one and this one. The LA one has jars of pickled ginger and spicy takana at each table, free of charge. They also provided extra unlimited garlic when requested. I was extremely disconcerted that they didn’t do that here, and charged $1 for a very small amount of spicy takana. This is a HUGE game changer for me after trying this location. I realized how crucial the trinity of those 3 items were to my enjoyment of a bowl of their tsukemen, because I love the perfect balance of noodles to meat to vegetables ratio. I am still going to give this place 4 stars because of how much I am a fan of Tsujita, but hope that they see this and will supply the unlimited gingers, takana, and garlic like they do at their LA location! Update 6/19/23: I now bump my review from 4 stars to 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I went back and they give ginger now! the takana they give is also now substantially more than the times when I first went. I wish it was free like the LA version but hey, it’s only $1!
