Went with a group to the rude shrimp co.
It was a hot sunny day. We sat outside. There are umbrellas on many of the tables to help but you will not get shade at all times. There was a box That looks like an old train container with holes punched out the side for windows and another larger one on the other side too get in. That would be more shaded.
I came with friends and I tried most of the dishes (we shared) but not all.
The menu online on their website is different than the menu we accessed online from the table.
This is a great place to drink. All of us agreed that the vibe was a nice one too hang in and drink the evening away. The other comment was they do not water their drinks down. The drinks pack a punch.
Pricing was higher than I liked for some dishes. The flight of tacos was at 18.00 so, 6.00 each (that seems to be the pricing per taco as the rude shrimp tacos were 12.00 for 2) I liked the one meaty one on the outside which I think was the kalbi short rib. The one in the middle didn't appeal to me (I think it was the garlic shimchimi chicken). The rude shrimp taco was fine. I just realized I never got the side of Hawaiian street corn looking back at my pictures so I do not know what that tastes like.
One of my favorite items was the blistered tomatoes, though I could take out leave the tomatoes. The shisito peppers were delicious.
The bay shrimp queso was a huge platter and was delicious too me, but not quite enough queso for all the chips.
The pineapple filled shimchimi chicken was better than my taco version of it. Though the flavors were good, it was a little too sweet with too much sauce. I would have liked more rice to balance the flavors. If you like a very sweet dish, this would be great.
If I went back I would order the burrito at 12.00. it generally was a solid item and the price point is right.
The loco Moco was another solid pick at 15.00.
The shrimp cocktail was also very good. They dusted it with a special seasoning so you don't even need to dip it in the cocktail sauce.
I only had a bit of the stuffed shrimp as it was my friends dish but it didn't call out to me.
I see on their menu that they have many new dishes that they haven't started serving yet. I'm still looking for my five star must get item there so it might be in up and coming.
Service was very friendly. One of the manager/owners came by and checked up on the table which I always appreciate. Food took a long time so be prepared to wait.
Parking is available in a large lot so there shouldn't...
Read moreWe tried The RUDE Shrimp CO. for the first time tonight! It was insanely delicious, and in my mind, worth the drive to Waterloo (just past Sycamore Farms where they hold Junkstock). We ordered takeout:
Our takeaways: My favorite was the burrito, my S.O.’s favorite was the chicken. The tacos could have been improved if the shells hadn’t completely fallen apart before we ate them. Also, the two of us split all three menu items and were not full. It was super delicious, the shrimp had some awesome kick to it, and the queso in the burrito really topped off the variety of flavors. But my criticism would be that none of these items come with sides... And none of them are really big enough to be a meal on their own. They’d definitely be great snack foods to eat on their patio with a cold drink though!! For a full meal, the option of cole slaw or fries really would’ve been the perfect addition to this trio of awesome dishes.
Overall, go try it!!! DEFINITELY the shrimp burrito!!! Such awesome summer menu items! We’ll definitely come back to eat them on the patio with some drinks later...
Read moreA friend and I visited on a Sunday not knowing what to expect but heard they had great Queso. Tim was our server but everyone in the restaurant came over to say "hi". Possibly because I brought my dog which is a bonus in itself but they were all extremely friendly.
We started with the queso which had bits of pork and amazing flavor! We then had the blistered tomatoes and peppers with Ricotta, wow!!!! Such a unique dish! You don't find many places serving shisito peppers. They had live music so we stayed awhile. The singer played nonstop! He played a great mix of country, 80s. 90s, r&b, disco, I mean, a little of everything. We were there most of the day and ended up have dinner as well. I had the chicken sischimi which was a spicy/sweet chicken, rice, red pepper and pineapple dish served in an actual half of a pineapple. She had the Rude tacos.
Do yourself a favor and go!! I almost didn't want to post because of wanting to be able to get in the place but that would be selfish.
Outdoor seating under umbrellas, indoor seating in a container which is the newest thing since Hurricane Ian.
if you make it be sure to ask for Kai or Tim! They're...
