After a afternoon of retail therapy myself and a friend decided to sto at this location for lunch. It wasn’t busy like normal and many were seated and eating. There were 7 waitresses on the floor I counted NOT ONE OF THEM greeted up, acknowledged we were even customers, and they refused to seat us. I’m African American and my friend is Latino. She wanted to leave and 2 minutes of being ignored. I on the other hand wanted to keep waiting just to see how this was going to play out. A large party came in behind us after 5 solid minutes of us being ignored in purpose each server made eye contact with us, but the attitude was clear WE DONT LIKE YOUR KIND HERE AND WERE NOT GOING TO SEAT YOU! They may not have said this out loud but body language and facial expressions say everything. As soon as the large party came in behind us a very nasty server looked out the corner of her eye and said “I’ll be with you”. You can guess the nationality of the party that came in behind us. I asked for a manager and she apologized but that’s not enough. This is 2018 not 1958. Attitudes like this shouldn’t be tolerated let alone go without making others aware. I’m not only hurt we both were absolutely embarrassed. Everyone at this location saw us not being served or treated like decent human beings. I hope the way I carried myself, my keeping calm, and speaking with the manager with respect made an impression with all the nasty waitresses and staff there. Racial discrimination of any kind isn’t acceptable. Treat others how you want to be treated. It’s 2018 this kind of treatment is still very real sadly. We will NEVER step foot in the place again!!!!!!!!!!! This was the Fort.O...
Read moreLast 2 visits have been substantially better, and I have added a star. Improvement noted.
The food is usually delicious. I really do not like leaving a bad review, but the wait time makes me really consider whether or not I want to eat here. I have been present when diners have just gotten up and walked out for lack of service, on several occasions. On one visit, people were leaving because their bill hadn't been brought after a long wait, so they left. They did so quite loudly. The other patrons all knew, so I can't see how staff did not. Another table began yelling at one manager so he left.
I mean left, left.
It appeared as if he quit right there. Our waitress hung in there, but I learned on a subsequent visit that she quit several days later. That was a loss for this establishment, as she was great. I began telling the remaining manager, the one that didn't quit, that our server had been wonderful- but, mid sentence he turned and walked away. There was no acknowledgment, he simply walked away. It was as if his battery died and he had to to return to the base station. Not a word, no expression, he was done accepting input. That was a new experience.
If the fries and shakes weren't as yummy as they are, I am not sure I would ever return. Before you go brace yourself for a potential wait to be greeted/have your presence accepted, then before you see wait staff, before your drinks arrive, before your food arrives and before your bill arrives. Plan your day around your visit. And, enjoy the show. And the fries.
Last thing- Pro-tip here. If you plan on ordering milkshakes after dinner, order them first. Otherwise you are adding a...
Read moreLet me start by saying the ONLY reason I'm even giving one star, is because the food was good. Albeit really slow to come to us, but we will get to that. I'm going to walk you through our experience.
When we first entered the establishment I noticed they were busy and I was prepared for a bit of a wait. Our hostess was sweet and seated us quickly. It took about 5 minutes before our server even noticed us and took our drink order, we also chose to go ahead and order our food at this time.
It took about another 5 minutes to get 4 waters. Which is understandable, but we required refills while we waited for our food and WATCHED a group of servers stand around the window and chit chat. It took half an hour to get our milkshakes.
The woman who delivered our milkshakes was not our server and one of the shakes came in a foam cup, rather than the tall glass ones. When the diner noted the difference and asked about it, the server got angry, said he got 3 ounces more, and threw our spoons, straws, and napkins down on the table. She then stormed off to LOUDLY talk about how rude WE were.
About 45 minutes after being seated, we got our food. As I have already said, our food was delicious, despite the burgers being a bit cold. In short, we spent 45 minutes, watching paid employees neglect glasses, be rude to diners, and gossip around the food window.
I adore steak n shake, but I doubt we will be returning to this one. Not unless they do a complete overhaul of their employees and implement basic manners training. I don't understand how they're still in business with over half of their staff being...
